A Little About Me!

Hi, I'm Laura!

I am a mama of two boys, Daniel and Luke. They are my world! You'll probably see them A LOT here, because I plan to share a lot of my sewing projects and creations. They are the primary reason I sew!
I enjoy sewing, pattern testing, trying new things, cooking, and trying new recipes, so I thought it might be fun to write about these things! This will be my blog to share things I make – whether it be food or clothes.

I want to give credit to my sister, Leah. A good many of the pictures that I share will be by her! She started taking pictures of my babies when they were born, and aims to take a good picture of all of the kids every week, so we usually get plenty of photos of the kids wearing the things I make. It has been fun!

I really got into sewing shortly after Daniel was born. I wanted to learn how to sew cloth diapers. I made some diapers, and somehow found out about the sewing world on Facebook, and it has been FUN! I've learned so much over the past few years, and have tried all kinds of new things! It wasn't long before I was devoting most of my free time to sewing baby clothes – I preferred the fit of the things I was making – They actually fit over the cloth diapers and looked good, where a lot of our store-bought things didn’t. So, this is a little about me, and how and why I got started. Now, I'm just hooked.

I love sewing! I love PDF sewing patterns. I love fabric!

So, WELCOME

Breaking Ground... FINALLY trying out Itch To Stitch

I've heard nothing but positive reviews on Itch To Stitch Patterns, and I've been meaning to try them out. In fact, I may own one or two, but have never sewed them. When I heard about this "Breaking Ground" Blog Tour, I knew it was the perfect time to try out one of these designers that I've been wanting to try, but apparently haven't had the motivation to sew. I had a scrap of this liverpool left over that I really love, so I had to find the perfect thing to make. I remembered seeing this cute petal pencil skirt on the Itch To Stitch site. It looked easy enough, and would be perfect for my fabric, so I thought, "Why not start with that?" **This post may contain my affiliate links. If you choose to make a purchase from my link, I will receive a small commision of the sale at no additional charge to you.** So here we are... the push I finally needed to spend a few minutes sewing (minutes is right... it's a fast sew). Look at my new skir...

Fun, Fast, and Free - Fresh Looks for Summer!

When I first saw the information about the "Boys in Summer" Blog Tour hosted by Made for Little Gents , I knew I wanted to participate! My boys are the reason I started sewing! I HAD to participate. But, what would I sew? I contemplated what I might make for a couple of weeks, and then it hit me... it would be super fun to highlight a couple of great freebies! EVERYONE loves free stuff. Free patterns are a great way to try a new designer out before making a purchase, they're perfect for adding some variety to your pattern stash without spending money, and they're just super fun... because more patterns = more stuff you get to make. 😁 So the freebies I'm going to talk to you about today are from Peek-a-boo Pattern Shop . I love Peek-a-boo patterns. I've made a few of them for my boys and have tested a few as well. I feel like the instructions are mostly geared towards beginners, so any skill level can be successful with her patterns. I've really en...

Getting Dressed for Halloween!

Honestly, Halloween was never my favorite holiday. It was just a day where some people dressed up. I don't particularly care for dressing up, so I haven't since I was a little girl. But... I have two sweet boys now. And one of them LOVES Halloween. So I'm participating in all the costume sewing, fun holiday-themed tee making, and Halloween-themed blog tours, and am actually really enjoying it! 😉 Today is my day to share on the DIY Halloween Costume Blog Tour hosted by Seams Sew Low . Okay... so I'm actually just sharing some Halloween-Themed tees, but they're so fun! I promise to show a picture of their costumes too! Daniel loves ghosts, pumpkins, costumes, candy, scary stuff, Halloween Decorations, everything Halloween related. I don't know where he gets it, but he loves the holiday. So, I have happily now made him 4 costumes in his life, and for the last two years, I've made him a couple of Halloween-themed shirts. So, for my day on the DIY Hal...
