Sewing with Pointelle

A little more than a year ago, one afternoon I drove my granddaddy somewhere. When I got him back home, he gave me twenty-five dollars and told me to buy some fabric to make my sister and me something. He told me that he'd like us to have something in lilac. So, of course, I went home, ordered some lilac DBP and ordered it. We both have tops. Recently, when Amelia Lane Designs got this lavender pointelle, I kind of fell in love with the color. When it arrived, I realized it was almost the exact same color as our lilac tops that we already have. But that's okay? You can't really have too much of a good thing, right? I knew from the second I saw the fabric what I was going to make with it. And, I knew I was going to make two - so my sister and me could match! **Disclosure: I have used my affiliate link for the pattern I used for this post. CKC Serenity - My Dressed Up Sweater

I missed out on the tester call for the first version of this sweater , and I was a bit sad while I watched all of the testers turn theirs in. So... when there was a version 2, I jumped on it! 😉 This is a new sweater by CKC patterns - it's called " Serenity ." It is an easy pattern that goes together very quickly! The Pattern: The pattern is for a cute almost-off-the-shoulder sweater. It has a slightly relaxed fit, really cute balloon sleeves, and a kangaroo pocket. The top pattern goes together kind of like a raglan tee, but it's a much wider neckline. I'd say it's somewhere between a wide boatneck and off the shoulder. It is SO quick, because NO HEMMING! That's right 😉, bands everywhere! My Top: I made my sweater using some sweater knit I've had in my stash for a while.... I  had been hanging onto it trying to decide what I would make. When I saw this pattern, I knew it would be perfect for it. For the bands, you need something ...

The 5 out of 4 Weekender

I remember seeing the Weekender Tunic when it released. I remember liking it on everyone, but I didn't get the pattern. I have one of those never-ending, always-growing list of sewing projects that I'll get to one day. Then I buy fabric with different sewing projects in mind... are you like me? 😉 Well I finally sewed up the Weekender Tunic this week, and.... um.... Why on Earth did I wait so long?? Y'all this pattern is awesome! It's my new favorite sweater!! **Disclosure: I have included my affiliate link to the patterns I used for this post. The Wardrobe by My Wardrobe Builder Tee

I may have an excessive number of basic tee patterns. For some reason, I guess I just can't help myself ... I want to try them all. But without trying one, I may miss out on something really awesome. So there's a really good reason to try all the patterns, right? **Disclosure: I have included my affiliate link to this pattern throughout this post. If you choose to make a purchase from Wardrobe by Me using my link, I'll receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** Let me introduce you to the Wardrobe Builder Tee by Wardrobe by Me Patterns. Have you ever had one of those patterns that had lots of options... you were SO excited to buy or test it because of all the variations. But then when you opened the file, it was really difficult to sort through. It was hard to figure out which pages to print, and the instructions were a bit overwhelming.  Let me start with telling you, This is NOT that pattern! Easy To Print and Put Together: This pa...

My New Favorite Sweater - Waffle Knit Fabric

When Seamwork released their new patterns earlier this month, my initial thought was, "That's cute, but I would never wear that." But that's before I was holding this really pretty waffle knit trying to decide what to make with it! **Disclosure: I have included my referral link to Seamwork Patterns throughout this post. If you use the link, I'll receive discounts on my Seamwork membership, and you'll receive a discount on yours!** So, I had this waffle knit from Amelia Lane Designs, and I was trying to decide how to use it. It is gorgeous and I wanted to find the perfect pattern to show it off! I considered a basic tee shirt. I thought about a pattern with a cowl neckline. There was a possibility of making a cardigan, or maybe a dolman? Then I remembered seeing this pattern from Seamwork in my e-mail... you know the one that was cute but I would never wear. Well, with the help of a couple of sewing friends, I decided that this pattern would be perfect f...

It's my day on the Winter Wear Designs Outerwear Blog tour! I'm so excited to share my new Twin Peaks Cardigan with you!! I never feel like I have enough cardigans... I thought the blog tour was NEXT WEEK, so I was last minute sewing my cardigan up! I was excited to make it, but it was pushed to the back burner while I finished up Halloween Costumes and other fall clothes for the kiddos. But I took a much -needed break from the kids' sewing to make this for myself!  I have figured out exactly what adjustments I need for my  body when using Winter Wear Designs patterns, which makes me SO HAPPY, because it makes the process of trying a new pattern so easy and so fun! I knew immediate...
