Easter Sewing 2020

I love sewing for all the holidays. I love making things for the boys for Christmas, Valentine's, St. Patrick's, Easter... Every holiday they get something new. Generally for Christmas and Easter, they'll get two new things - one is their "fun" holiday outfit, and one is dressier for Church. This year has been tough. Somehow I thought that since we're home all the time, I'd have more sewing time. Nope, not the case. I've barely found any sewing time. I love sewing, but the kids have worn me out during the day! I typically do a lot of sewing after they go to bed (at least a few nights a week), but recently, I'm ready to sleep as soon as they are! So... I was VERY last minute this year sewing Easter attire. I looked weeks ago at Joann's to get ideas of fabric for their dressy outfits. I found a beautiful light blue shirting that I planned to go back and get. It was not on sale that day, and I was already using my coupon for something else. ...

Daniel's Power Ranger Costume

Daniel is very imaginative. He has a much bigger imagination than I ever did as a child. He's really creative and is always making all kinds of things. He plays pretend a lot. And I LOVE it! I love watching it, and listening to it. He also pushes me to be creative. He always has the best ideas for games to play, or for things he wants me to sew. Like a Power Ranger costume that he very suddenly decided he NEEDED.  How His Costume Came to Be... It was almost time to get ready for bed the other night, and he asked me if I would go make him a Power Ranger costume. I said, "Daniel, it's 8 o'clock. It's bedtime, and I don't even know how to make a Power Ranger costume." I kind of figured he would drop it. I finished what I was doing in the kitchen, and he walked into the den for like 5 minutes. He came back with this picture and said, "See this is what I want, but it needs a gold symbol on the front, and it needs gold close to the neck." ...

New Halloween Tees!

I've never loved Halloween. No real reason, just never liked it. Dressing up isn't my thing. I don't care for the scary stuff. Somehow the dressing up and trick-or-treating and all the decorations just doesn't appeal to me. But... OH MY GOODNESS... I have a child who is obsessed. He loves everything Halloween. If it's scary, he likes it. If it's a pumpkin, a ghost, a skeleton, anything that could be Halloween related, he wants it. He's teaching his little brother to appreciate the holiday as well. While I was walking through Hobby Lobby the other day, Luke spotted orange flowers... he yelled about the "Halloween Flowers" until we exited the store. **Disclosure: I have included my affiliate link to the fabric used in this post. Heading Back to School 2019

Daniel is going back to school in a little over a week. He's READY. I'm not sure that I am though! We've enjoyed the summer but I'm going to miss him! But going back to school called for getting a few new outfits... Daniel helped me with some online fabric shopping so that we could make him what he wanted for school to start! Participating in the Back to School Blog Tour hosted by Paisley Roots ! seemed like the perfect reason to go ahead and get his new outfits made! So I'm sharing two new tee shirts with you today. I actually made him 4 new tee shirts in a week, but two are still in testing, so I don't get to share those just yet! 😉 ** Disclosure: I have included my affiliate links to the patterns and fabric used, when applicable.
