A Perfect Pair - My Mama's Newest Sinclair Ivy

When this fabric came, I was planning to sew it for my mama. I've made her a few tops in the past couple of months and planned to use one of the same patterns - either the Love Notions Laundry Day Tee or the Wardrobe by Me Sneha Tunic. I didn't order any coordinates to go with it, so I planned to make the whole top from the same fabric. I was getting ready to cut it out last weekend, but I needed to clean up some of my mess first from my last couple of sewing projects. So I started folding scraps, and put them to the side... right beside my folded new fabric for the top. I kind of fell in love with the two fabrics together. So here is my accidental coordinate: The NEW "ELLIS" Rayon Spandex from Amelia Lane Designs and their Denim Pointelle. Aren't they just beautiful together? So I KNEW I had to use them together. My mind immediately went to the Sinclair Ivy. It is perfect for using two fabrics, I already had had her size printed because I've made he

The Athina Kakou Brittany Skirt

Every now and again, I find something I really love. Like REALLY love. I like a lot of things I sew, but some of my sews are my absolute favorites. This is one of them. This is the Brittany Skirt by Athina Kakou. I've sewn a few Athina Kakou Patterns. I love Athina's style. She loves sewing and creating beautiful, feminine patterns. I've learned a few techniques from her, and always enjoy her pattern reviews and blog post shares. I love that she sews and shares other patterns too. I've loved the quality of every Athina Kakou Pattern I've tried. They've all been well drafted, and obviously well thought out. The instructions are illustrated and easy to understand. You'll find notches and markings for helping you line up pattern pieces. Every pattern has gone together easily and smoothly. This pattern was no exception, and definitely one of my favorite AK makes! Sewing the Pattern : This skirt went together very smoothly. I found the instructio

Easter Sewing 2020

I love sewing for all the holidays. I love making things for the boys for Christmas, Valentine's, St. Patrick's, Easter... Every holiday they get something new. Generally for Christmas and Easter, they'll get two new things - one is their "fun" holiday outfit, and one is dressier for Church. This year has been tough. Somehow I thought that since we're home all the time, I'd have more sewing time. Nope, not the case. I've barely found any sewing time. I love sewing, but the kids have worn me out during the day! I typically do a lot of sewing after they go to bed (at least a few nights a week), but recently, I'm ready to sleep as soon as they are! So... I was VERY last minute this year sewing Easter attire. I looked weeks ago at Joann's to get ideas of fabric for their dressy outfits. I found a beautiful light blue shirting that I planned to go back and get. It was not on sale that day, and I was already using my coupon for something else.

Sewing the Rocket Raglan by 5 out of 4

I have been curious about this pattern for a bit. You know... I already have like 5 kids raglan patterns, but I just WANTED to know about THIS one. You know... I feel like I need to try all the patterns. After I tried and loved the first 5 out of 4 Pattern, it is only logical that I try the rest, right? **Disclosure: I have included my affiliate link to this pattern in this post. If you choose to purchase a 5 out of 4 pattern using my link, I'll receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** So... here is the Rocket Raglan . So finally, I got ready to sew this one . I originally thought I might sew it for one of my boys, but my sister is my photographer, and with this social distancing thing, I thought it might be easier to get photos of my nephew. So I decided to get him a shirt ready for them to pick up! Choosing the Fabrics: This time, since I was making the shirt for Matthew, I decided to let Matthew pick the fabric. I took pictures of s
