Sinclair Ivy Top

I always have small random scraps left from projects... you know the ones... they're not really big enough for much, but they're way too big to throw out! So I save them, and save them, and wait for a good project to come along.  Are you like me? This new top is the PERFECT pattern for using some of your scrap pieces!  **Disclosure: I have included my affiliate link to the pattern I used in this post. If you choose to purchase this pattern using my link, I'll receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you!** I got EXCITED when I saw the testing call for the Sinclair Ivy top ! And not just a little excited. Like it was love at first line drawing! 😍 Have you ever had this reaction to a pattern? Then I sewed it, and I loved it even more!  Photo from the Sinclair Website Let me tell you about the Pattern ! This pattern is drafted for knit fabrics. It's fitted at the shoulders, semi-fitted at the bust, and flares out towards...

The Lauren by Sinclair Patterns

The pleats, the drape, the crossover neckline, the dropped waist dress option... all the reasons I was drawn to test the Lauren . I initially started out sewing the Lauren with a super light weight, very drapey fabric that I got somewhere really cheap. It was a mystery knit. I would assume it was some combination of rayon and polyester, and who knows what else. But it wouldn't cooperate and I was getting super frustrated, so I decided that I needed to put it down and cut the pattern out again. I reached for a liverpool that I have had in my stash for a little bit. It was from a Knitpop auction. I love liverpool and got a great deal on it! I was excited to recut, because the print is so pretty. I had two yards of this gorgeous print, and had to decide whether I would sew a top length with long sleeves or a dress length with short sleeves. I loved EVERY Lauren I saw in the testing group, but was really drawn to the waist on the dress. Most of the patterns I own have either an e...

CKC Hollis Crossover Hem Tee

I love this top! 💓 It's more than just a basic tee, but it's just as comfortable as one! This is CKC Hollis ! This pattern makes such a cute top to pair with jeans or leggings, and is a surprisingly easy sew! You have a few options for sewing this pattern! The Sleeves: This pattern comes with different sleeve lengths to make the perfect top for any time of year. The sleeves are finished with a simple cuff, for a very easy finish! I love not having to measure and pin a hem! 😉 I made both of my tops with long sleeves, because it's so cold right now! I wanted a couple of tops to keep me warm! The Crossover Band: There are two options for the bottom crossover on this pattern. For each of my two shirts, I used the curved hem band. You can optionally use a solid (straight/ non-curved) band. Both of them look beautiful - I feel like the straight band might be slightly more beginner-friendly, however. The Lengths:  Shannon has the pattern pieces mark...

Feeling Cozy in my Twin Peaks Cardigan by Winter Wear Designs

It's my day on the Winter Wear Designs Outerwear Blog tour! I'm so excited to share my new Twin Peaks Cardigan with you!! I never feel like I have enough cardigans... I honestly haven't purchased one in YEARS! And... I have now made myself two for this fall, and of the two... this is my favorite! I'll tell you all about it and give you all the reasons I love it in my stop on the Outerwear Blog Tour! Easy, Fast... I have to admit... I thought the blog tour was NEXT WEEK, so I was last minute sewing my cardigan up! I was excited to make it, but it was pushed to the back burner while I finished up Halloween Costumes and other fall clothes for the kiddos. But I took a much -needed break from the kids' sewing to make this for myself!  I have figured out exactly what adjustments I need for my  body when using Winter Wear Designs patterns, which makes me SO HAPPY, because it makes the process of trying a new pattern so easy and so fun! I knew immediate...

CKC Tierney's

When I saw this pattern tester call, I REALLY liked the top. I loved the detail on the sleeves. I liked the optional elbow patches. I liked the color blocking options, and I loved that the tee shirt could be all of these things... or just a basic tee, if that's what you need. This is CKC Tierney's! I got this pretty sweater knit from a Knitpop scrap pack a few weeks ago. I already made myself something using it. You can see that here . I had enough of my scrap pieces left to make my sister something too. What is better than trying a new pattern?? Almost nothing. So I used up the rest of my nice sweater fabrics to make my sister a coordinating top! According to her measurements, she fits into a size small. It is perfect on her. I used the color blocked bodice options, and the color blocked the sleeve detail. Her top is the "tunic" length. As you can see, it would be long enough to wear with leggings, if she chooses to do that! Cutting the Pieces After...

From Inspiration to Creation -- the Magnolia by Winter Wear Designs!

I've never owned a cowl neck top. Until this week, I had never made one, and I'm pretty sure I've never bought one. I'm beginning to learn that my previous wardrobe might have been slightly dull. 🤣 Mostly basic tees and church dresses! But, I'm stepping out and trying new things! So for this month's Winter Wear Designs Blog Tour, the theme was "Hack-a-Thon." I would need to "hack" a Winter Wear Designs pattern to make my vision a reality! I visited Pinterest and Google Images for inspiration. I felt like I wanted to do something with a cowl neck, but what would I do? My Inspiration: I searched Pinterest and Google Images for ideas. I searched sweaters, swing dresses, cowl necks to see if I could get some inspiration for my next sew. I saved quite a few to a women's sewing inspiration board I have.  Here are a few of my inspiration photos: This is a beautiful, striped, cowl neckline sweater from Poshmark. Then...
