Feeling Cozy in my Twin Peaks Cardigan by Winter Wear Designs

It's my day on the Winter Wear Designs Outerwear Blog tour! I'm so excited to share my new Twin Peaks Cardigan with you!!

I never feel like I have enough cardigans... I honestly haven't purchased one in YEARS! And... I have now made myself two for this fall, and of the two... this is my favorite! I'll tell you all about it and give you all the reasons I love it in my stop on the Outerwear Blog Tour!

Easy, Fast...

I have to admit... I thought the blog tour was NEXT WEEK, so I was last minute sewing my cardigan up! I was excited to make it, but it was pushed to the back burner while I finished up Halloween Costumes and other fall clothes for the kiddos. But I took a much -needed break from the kids' sewing to make this for myself!

I have figured out exactly what adjustments I need for my body when using Winter Wear Designs patterns, which makes me SO HAPPY, because it makes the process of trying a new pattern so easy and so fun! I knew immediately that I would likely need my broad-shoulder adjustment and approximately how much of one, and did that before starting to sew.

I cut the pattern out, and using the straight yoke piece, it probably took me approximately 2.5 hours with interruptions to make it (cutting to final product).

Isn't it pretty??

Different Options for this Pattern

So as its name suggests, there is a yoke piece included with twin peaks. It's very pretty and interesting, but looking at my striped fabric, I felt like the straight yoke would be better. I'm super happy with my choice, because now it's my favorite new cardigan! 😍💗

This is a line drawing borrowed from the Winter Wear Designs Twin Peaks Cardigan Listing. You can see both yoke options!

This pattern also has two different length options! You can choose to sew "hip length" or "mid thigh length." I made mine mid-thigh length, because I thought it might be nice to wear it with leggings!  I think hip length would be gorgeous with a high-waisted skirt or a dress too. I may need another! 😉

The band can be serged on and topstitched or sewn on and topstitched to keep a clean finish on the inside (no exposed seam on the band). Due to my very obvious time constraints, I went with the serging and topstitching method. The other method may look a little nicer from the inside, but this'll do and I'm happy with it!

Did Somebody Say POCKETS??

Everyone loves pockets! And oftentimes, we wear leggings or dresses and don't have them, so it's super nice to have a cardigan with them!

And what's nicer than having a cardigan with pockets?? Having the pockets big enough to actually fit your phone or keys or whatever. I have a couple of store-bought sweaters with pockets, but they're so tiny that if I actually try to stick my phone in them, it falls back out.

When I was trying to decide whether or not I was going to go to the extra trouble of sewing the pockets (an extra couple of steps, an extra couple of minutes), I laid my phone down on the pattern piece and could tell it would fit. YAY! I HAD to add them, and I'm glad I did!

The Fabric I Used

This pattern requires fabric with a stretch of at least 30% for the cardigan and at least 50% with good recovery for the bands.

I used a very lightweight mystery french terry I got in a Knitpop Sweater Scrap Pack a few weeks back. I LOVE it! It's so soft, stretchy, comfortable, and cozy!

If you've never ordered from Knitpop, check them out! They have some really fabulous prices and lots of fun prints. You can't beat the prices of their Auctions and Scrap Packs!!

Will I Sew This Again?

I'm planning to! I love the fit of it, and it's just a fabulous piece to have. I may even interface the band next time to add buttons and buttonholes!

Free and Easy... Sewing the Agnes by Halla!

I love trying new things when it comes to sewing. I love learning new techniques, how to do things different ways, and figuring things out. For the most part, I also enjoy trying new-to-me pattern designers. This was my first ever pattern by Halla  - the AGNES . Yep, I downloaded it a long time ago when it released, but this was my first time ever making it! I downloaded it with intentions of trying it because it was so popular. It may have been popular because it's a FREE pattern (you can get the code to download it in the Halla Facebook Group ), or it may have been really popular because it's FREE and REALLY AWESOME. This blog tour gave me a chance to find out for myself! I participated in this blog tour put together by Kate of  Sewing from Scratch ... the idea is that we would all sew the same pattern, but make it our own. If we love it as is, we sew it as is. If we want a cute bow (Gwen😉), we add a cute bow, if we want to make all the adjustments to get our perfect ...

New Athletic Set - ALD fabrics

Every month, Amelia Lane Designs is featuring a new fabric of the month. The featured fabric type is discounted throughout the entire month! It's so nice if your favorite fabric type is featured or one that you've just been wanting to try.  This month, the featured fabric is Athletics! I LOVE the athletics from ALD! And, the best part is, every time I make something new from athletics, I get motivated to move and exercise!   **Disclosure: I have included affiliate links in this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I will receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** This Set:  For the top, I used a fabric called " Sportivo ." This is a nylon/ spandex blend. It can be used for athletic tops, sports bras, and even swimwear. I LOVE this fabric !  For this top, I used the Marin from Sew A Little Seam . This is a swim pattern. I planned to sew a crop top version with this for an exercise tank, but when I finished, I deci...
