I've never loved Halloween. No real reason, just never liked it. Dressing up isn't my thing. I don't care for the scary stuff. Somehow the dressing up and trick-or-treating and all the decorations just doesn't appeal to me. But... OH MY GOODNESS... I have a child who is obsessed. He loves everything Halloween. If it's scary, he likes it. If it's a pumpkin, a ghost, a skeleton, anything that could be Halloween related, he wants it. He's teaching his little brother to appreciate the holiday as well. While I was walking through Hobby Lobby the other day, Luke spotted orange flowers... he yelled about the "Halloween Flowers" until we exited the store.

Even though I don't love Halloween, when Peek-a-boo put their fall prints on pre-order, I let Daniel choose what he wanted. Of course, one of his choices was the Halloween print. He LOVES it. He was so excited for it to arrive. He was excited to open the package. I actually waited until October 1st to sew it up simply because I knew he would be ready to wear it the second it was ready. And I was right... he wore it to school one day last week.
Sewing the Shirts:
I purchased 1.5 yards of the Halloween print and 1 yard of orange to use as a coordinate. I initially planned to sew hoodies for the boys from this print. But when October 1st hit, and the temperatures were still in the 90's, I realized short sleeve shirts might be the best option. We decided that since October is generally warm in Louisiana, they could probably use the short sleeve shirts. By the end of October, when it starts to cool down, they'll probably wear them layered over a long sleeve tee for warmth.
Y'all, I have so many kids tee shirt patterns. I have free ones and paid ones. I've got ones I've bought and others that I've tested. But, I keep coming back to this one. They all three get such a good fit from this pattern. There are enough options to keep me happy using it year- round. It's the Puperita Jelly Shirt. I seriously LOVE this pattern. It fits, everyone is comfortable in it, we love them!
I have just sized everyone up from the sizes I've been sewing. Hello growth spurts! Everyone at the same time, too! Matthew is wearing an 18 month, Luke wears a 2T, and Daniel is now in a 6 according to measurements.
The Jelly Tee:
As I mentioned, this is my "go-to" tee shirt pattern. It starts at a size newborn and goes through a child's size 10. It is a quick and easy sew. There are several choices you can make when sewing this pattern. You can choose short sleeves or long sleeves. You can choose to band or hem the short sleeves. The long sleeve included is banded (although, if you wanted a hemmed sleeve, it would be an easy modification). There is also an option for a hem or band at the bottom of the shirt. The shirt is a regular crew neck tee with a comfortable fit. I think the fit is so cute on all the kids I've seen wearing it! It's not baggy, but not tight either. It's just the perfect fitting tee!
I had the honor of testing this pattern when it released, and I fell in love then. My boys have SO MANY of these! I tried counting just the ones I've made this year, but couldn't! Between my nephew and my kids, I've probably sewed this pattern over twenty times! Does that tell you something? Definitely my most-used pattern!!
If you don't have it yet, I'm sure you won't regret the purchase!
The Fabric:
As I mentioned, this is the Halloween print carried by Peek-a-boo Fabric Shop. It is a custom print that I pre-ordered a couple of months ago, however, she buys a bit of extra and sells it retail until it's gone! So if you're interested, shop fast! 😉 There were several other super cute fall prints too! I'll probably be sharing others soon!
So Halloween Shirts are Done....
I'm glad to have these done and ready to wear for the month! 😃 Now I had better get started on costumes!! I'll share them when they're ready!

Have you ever tried to photograph three small children at the same time? Hey... everyone is in the shot. They're all *sort of* looking! 😜 |
