It's a Beauty - the Betty by Sinclair Patterns

Not too long ago, I discovered Sinclair Patterns. I had been eyeing a few Sinclair Patterns, because  they just looked gorgeous, but I've been busy with other things and hadn't actually tried any of them. So when I saw a testing call for the Betty dress in the Sinclair Facebook group, I eagerly applied. I already loved the dress before I made it because of its wrap bodice. Dresses HAVE to be nursing friendly for me to consider making them at the moment, and I knew that the wrap would be!

The Betty Dress:

This beautiful pattern is such a classic style. You can wear it anywhere. It's perfect for church, date night, and even for work. It's comfortable and easy to wear and style. There are a couple of options to appeal to anyone. As I mentioned, there is a lovely wrap bodice and wrap skirt, but everything is attached at the waist so there won't be any coming open! šŸ˜‰ Both the bodice and the skirt have beautiful pleats giving the dress (or top) a nice drape, and making it stand apart from many of the other wrap style dress patterns available. There is elastic at the waist, cinching it in perfectly to match your body shape. You can sew the knee length dress version (that I made) or the top version (very similar but the skirt portion brings it to top length). You can choose to make it sleeveless, short sleeve, 3/4 sleeve, or long sleeve. I made mine in short sleeve for summer!

If you have used a Sinclair Pattern before, you know just what to expect... perfection, wonderful drafting, and that you'll likely never have to make any adjustments for height no matter how tall or short you are! Oxana drafts the pattern separately for petite, regular, and tall, which is SO nice! I'm 5'5", so I typically don't have too many issues with height for sewing patterns. Most fit me decently as is. But this is wonderful for those who typically need height adjustments.

My Fabric:

It is suggested in the tutorial that you use a light to medium weight knit fabric with 30%-50% stretch for this pattern. I used a poly spandex that I got from Surge fabric shop during their sale after their flood. šŸ™ So sad for them! This fabric was perfect though, and I love it for this dress!

My Dress:

As I mentioned, I made the dress length, because I LOVE dresses. I used the short sleeves since we are going into summer here. I love the way the pleats make the dress fall. They're really so pretty and delicate. I also love the crossover bodice. Not only is it nursing-friendly, but also this is the ONLY crossover bodice I have that comes up this high... I don't have to wear anything underneath! It's modest, but still gorgeous. Another plus about this crossover is that it stays crossed over. It stays in place and doesn't gap at all. Oxana apparently knows what she's doing. šŸ˜‰ It's a fitted dress that really looks flattering on all body types -- just look at the other testers' images. There are instructions included to get your best fit on the bodice.

I REALLY love my new dress! I feel so good wearing it! I think I want a couple more of these!

Next Time I Sew It:

When I make it again, and I will make it again, I may try the top length. I think it would be so pretty with one of the Sinclair Pencil Skirts. She has two that I think would look amazing with the top length version, the Elle and the Erica.
I also think this dress would be gorgeous in a stretch velvet for a Christmas party or something.

I thought about making the bottom front skirt a little wider, just for more coverage chasing toddlers. HA! But, it's really fine as is.

Reasons You Should Go Check This Out:

There are probably quite a few reasons, but let me give you my opinion!

1. The dress (or top) is SUPER pretty!
2. It's REALLY flattering.
3. You'll feel amazing wearing it!
4. You'll be surprised at how well it fits you, I promise.
5. It'll make you want to sew all the Sinclair Patterns (okay this could potentially be a negative, only for your budget though šŸ˜‰)
6. It is PERFECT for almost any occasion!
7. You can get it on sale here!

Free and Easy... Sewing the Agnes by Halla!

I love trying new things when it comes to sewing. I love learning new techniques, how to do things different ways, and figuring things out. For the most part, I also enjoy trying new-to-me pattern designers. This was my first ever pattern by Halla  - the AGNES . Yep, I downloaded it a long time ago when it released, but this was my first time ever making it! I downloaded it with intentions of trying it because it was so popular. It may have been popular because it's a FREE pattern (you can get the code to download it in the Halla Facebook Group ), or it may have been really popular because it's FREE and REALLY AWESOME. This blog tour gave me a chance to find out for myself! I participated in this blog tour put together by Kate of  Sewing from Scratch ... the idea is that we would all sew the same pattern, but make it our own. If we love it as is, we sew it as is. If we want a cute bow (GwenšŸ˜‰), we add a cute bow, if we want to make all the adjustments to get our perfect ...

It's so nice if your favorite fabric type is featured or one that you've just been wanting to try.  This month, the featured fabric is Athletics! I LOVE the athletics from ALD! And, the best part is, every time I make something new from athletics, I get motivated to move and exercise!   **Disclosure: I have included affiliate links in this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I will receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** This Set:  For the top, I used a fabric called " Sportivo ." This is a nylon/ spandex blend. It can be used for athletic tops, sports bras, and even swimwear. I LOVE this fabric !  For this top, I used the Marin from Sew A Little Seam . This is a swim pattern. I planned to sew a crop top version with this for an exercise tank, but when I finished, I deci...
