The Kids Raglan by Ellie and Mac

I think Daniel picked this fabric out last year. I made him a tee shirt with it before, but he's outgrown it now. I had a little bit left, folded on a shelf. Luke brought it to me one day recently and said, "This" and then pointed at his shirt. I think that was his way of requesting a monster truck shirt maybe? But, I've had several other sewing projects going on and had not gotten to this one yet, until this past weekend!

I decided that the Ellie and Mac Wacky Wednesday was the PERFECT excuse to make him a new raglan tee from this monster truck fabric that he loves so much. And, now I'm trying to figure out why I waited so long... because a raglan is FAST to sew... like seriously fast. And, I know this because I've made raglan tees before!
Let's Talk a Bit About the Pattern:

This pattern is made for knit fabrics. It includes sizes for kids newborn to size 14. It is a unisex raglan. It has options for short, 3/4 length, and long sleeves. There is also a ruffle piece for the sleeve, although I didn't use it for Luke! It has separate front and back pieces, and sleeves that are cut on fold. It is a very fast sew, as I mentioned! It's a perfect basic pattern to have on hand! I can see using it for applique too!
I bet the pattern took less than 30 minutes to sew, cut to finish. I am happy with the fit on him! He seems comfortable, and he loves his shirt!
Fabric:

The monster truck fabric is a Doodles interlock from Joann Fabrics. I bought it last year. Interlock does shrink, so I recommend washing and drying a few times prior to sewing so that the finished garment doesn't shrink.

The solid red is from Peek-a-boo Fabric shop. I have quite a few of their prints too waiting to be sewn. They have really fast shipping and great quality! I definitely recommend checking them out for some great prints for kiddos at affordable prices!

January Releases from Amelia Lane Designs

I always get so excited about new fabric releases from Amelia Lane Designs. Frequently, they give me the opportunity to sew something I might not otherwise and try something new. I have learned a lot sewing for them, like how to sew swim and athletic wear. But I've also learned that I actually LIKE wearing fun prints and designs that I haven't always worn.  ** Disclosure: I have included affiliate links to patterns used in this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I will receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** For this release, I tried something that is really not me - this fun animal print! There have been a few releases recently with fun animal-print fabrics, and I have not sewn any of them, because I thought I wouldn't like wearing them. But after seeing some of the other sewists in the ALD Facebook Group sharing their makes, I knew I HAD to try it! I am really glad I did. This dress makes me so happy! This fabric is a d...

New Athletic Set - ALD fabrics

Every month, Amelia Lane Designs is featuring a new fabric of the month. The featured fabric type is discounted throughout the entire month! It's so nice if your favorite fabric type is featured or one that you've just been wanting to try.  This month, the featured fabric is Athletics! I LOVE the athletics from ALD! And, the best part is, every time I make something new from athletics, I get motivated to move and exercise!   **Disclosure: I have included affiliate links in this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I will receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** This Set:  For the top, I used a fabric called " Sportivo ." This is a nylon/ spandex blend. It can be used for athletic tops, sports bras, and even swimwear. I LOVE this fabric !  For this top, I used the Marin from Sew A Little Seam . This is a swim pattern. I planned to sew a crop top version with this for an exercise tank, but when I finished, I deci...

Breaking Ground... FINALLY trying out Itch To Stitch

I've heard nothing but positive reviews on Itch To Stitch Patterns, and I've been meaning to try them out. In fact, I may own one or two, but have never sewed them. When I heard about this "Breaking Ground" Blog Tour, I knew it was the perfect time to try out one of these designers that I've been wanting to try, but apparently haven't had the motivation to sew. I had a scrap of this liverpool left over that I really love, so I had to find the perfect thing to make. I remembered seeing this cute petal pencil skirt on the Itch To Stitch site. It looked easy enough, and would be perfect for my fabric, so I thought, "Why not start with that?" **This post may contain my affiliate links. If you choose to make a purchase from my link, I will receive a small commision of the sale at no additional charge to you.** So here we are... the push I finally needed to spend a few minutes sewing (minutes is right... it's a fast sew). Look at my new skir...
