The Pattern Emporium Entice Me Dress

I love dresses... You may have picked up on that. I have quite a few handmade dresses hanging in my closet, and I wear one almost every day.

When Kate showed us her new test in the testing group, I was obsessed. I somewhat reluctantly applied to test, because in the past, I've had a bit of trouble getting a good fit with fitted dresses and skirts. But, I loved hers so much that I really wanted to try it.

  • The Entice Me dress is a fitted dress with LOTS of options!
  • There are neckline options - you can sew a crew neckline, or any combination of the following: low, mid, and high front combined with low, mid, or high back. There is even a separate cowl piece/ neck warmer you can wear with your dress.
  • The dress has three lengths: knee, midi, or ankle length.
  • Several sleeve options including: two sleeveless cuts, a cap sleeve, a flared sleeve, regular short, 3/4 and long slim sleeves.
  • Drafted for knit fabrics with both horizontal and vertical stretch.
  • Includes the option for cutting the back on the fold OR adding a back seam to help conserve fabric.
  • The front dress is ONE piece. The back has a waist seam to allow for shaping/ a great fit!
  • Included with this release is an add on pack with a cowl back neckline.
There are SO many options! This dress is such a value!!

Fitting My Dress:

As I mentioned, I was slightly reluctant to sign up for the test, although I loved the look, because I've struggled a bit fitting fitted dresses and skirts in the past. I am NOT an expert in fitting, by any means, but I'm learning all the time!

The trouble I've had in the past was that I would have slight pulling across the hips when I walked AND I would have a bit of extra fabric right above the fullest part of my hips. When I took in the sides to get rid of the little bit of extra fabric, the pulling would get even worse.

When I sewed my first version/ toile of this pattern, this is exactly what I experienced. But Kate and Mel were so amazing - they worked with me until we figured out the issue, and got my perfect fit! Now, I'm completely obsessed with this pattern, and SO happy I decided to test it!

Based on my measurements, I chose to sew a size 8 bust and waist, and a size 10 hips. After talking to Kate about my pulling, she told me that when there is not enough room for your hips, and you walk, it'll make the dress pull or bunch a little. So she suggested that I grade the hips out to right between a 10 and a 12. I did, and like I said before, I had a tiny bit of fabric above my hips, but NO pulling across the hips this time. I took in about 1/4 inch on either side, a couple of inches above the hips, and PERFECT fit!

My 3rd version was perfect from the get-go!

The Options I Chose:

For my navy dress, I used a heavy rayon spandex fabric I bought at Amelia Lane Designs. If you've never used this fabric, it's AMAZING. It doesn't "grow" or sag like some Rayon Spandex will. It's a bit thicker, and so soft. I'm so glad I tried it!

I chose to use the crew neckline and the flared sleeves. My dress was cut at knee length. The back pieces were cut on the fold.

I'm obsessed with the flared sleeve. It's GORGEOUS y'all!!

My second dress, the floral, is a DBP that I've had in my stash for a while! It's been waiting on the perfect pattern, and this was for sure it! 😉

This dress was made using the high front neckline, low back neckline, cap sleeves, and knee length.

I love the combinations of necklines to choose from! 💗

Even More Options...

If you'll look in the Pattern Emporium Group, you'll see that several sewists made the pattern even more versatile by hacking it or mashing it with another pattern. When you start doing that... the options are almost limitless!

I decided I wanted a tee with the flared sleeve. So I grabbed my pattern for the Endless Summer Tee that I made not too long ago, and mashed the top (necklines and sleeves) from the Entice Me pattern with the bottom of the Endless Summer Tee. I'm super pleased with how this one turned out!

This one is made using an ITY fabric from Amelia Lane Designs. They have ITY on sale for the month of July! So, if you're a fan of ITY or just want to try it, it's a great time to stock up!!

The pattern is on sale for release this week! Kate has also discounted some patterns that would be awesome to pair with this one or to mash with it, so don't miss checking out those either!

Free and Easy... Sewing the Agnes by Halla!

I love trying new things when it comes to sewing. I love learning new techniques, how to do things different ways, and figuring things out. For the most part, I also enjoy trying new-to-me pattern designers. This was my first ever pattern by Halla  - the AGNES . Yep, I downloaded it a long time ago when it released, but this was my first time ever making it! I downloaded it with intentions of trying it because it was so popular. It may have been popular because it's a FREE pattern (you can get the code to download it in the Halla Facebook Group ), or it may have been really popular because it's FREE and REALLY AWESOME. This blog tour gave me a chance to find out for myself! I participated in this blog tour put together by Kate of  Sewing from Scratch ... the idea is that we would all sew the same pattern, but make it our own. If we love it as is, we sew it as is. If we want a cute bow (Gwen😉), we add a cute bow, if we want to make all the adjustments to get our perfect ...

New Athletic Set - ALD fabrics

Every month, Amelia Lane Designs is featuring a new fabric of the month. The featured fabric type is discounted throughout the entire month! It's so nice if your favorite fabric type is featured or one that you've just been wanting to try.  This month, the featured fabric is Athletics! I LOVE the athletics from ALD! And, the best part is, every time I make something new from athletics, I get motivated to move and exercise!   **Disclosure: I have included affiliate links in this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I will receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** This Set:  For the top, I used a fabric called " Sportivo ." This is a nylon/ spandex blend. It can be used for athletic tops, sports bras, and even swimwear. I LOVE this fabric !  For this top, I used the Marin from Sew A Little Seam . This is a swim pattern. I planned to sew a crop top version with this for an exercise tank, but when I finished, I deci...
