Black & White Summer Basics!

The second I saw this fabric, I loved it. I knew IMMEDIATELY what I wanted to make with it... It looked like my mama to me, and I've been wanting to try out the Sinclair Ivy for her, but I loved it so much that I wanted something too, so I ordered 4 yards and got busy thinking.

It is so pretty! I planned to use about a yard for her top, so I'd have about 3 yards to split between my sister and me. I remembered that the Love Notions Summer Basics Tank Dress in knee length only used about 1.5 yards for my size, so my decision was made!

I made two Summer Basics Dresses (one for my sister and the other for me).

And here is my mama's Sinclair Ivy!

This pattern is a knit pattern for a tank top or dress. There are a few lengths included (a regular tank top, a knee length, or a maxi length dress). It requires surprisingly little fabric. The tank (for all sizes) can be made from only 1 yard. The knee length dress requires between 1.5 and 1.75 yards. And you can get the maxi from between 2 and 2.5 yards! The pattern includes sizes XS through XXXL. It has negative ease at the chest, and is intended to be used with knit fabrics with at least 25% stretch. There is also a full bust piece, which is SO nice if you need that! Hopefully you won't have to do your own FBA (full bust adjustment). You chose your base size based on your upper bust measurement, and depending on your full bust measurement, you can either use the regular or full bust piece.

The pattern includes instructions for binding on the neckline and armscyes. It gives it a very nice, professional looking finish!

The back skirt is cut in two pieces to save on fabric, however I had enough fabric that I cut both the front and back on the fold.
I really love this pattern, and the fit of the dress! It is really comfortable and beautiful! Plus, it's a super fast sew... what's not to love? 😉

I already blogged about this one a couple of weeks ago, here, when I made it for myself. I really loved the top I made, and it just looked like something my mama would like, so I've been wanting to try one for her! She likes tops that flare out at the waist and hips, like this one.

This pattern is fitted at the shoulders, semi fitted at the bust, with more positive ease at the waist and hips. It has a front and back piece making the pattern perfect for color blocking. The back bottom piece has a wide, inverted pleat, adding extra fullness to the back.
It has great instructions, would be ideal for a beginner, and goes together really quickly! 💓

The Fabric:

The fabric I used for these is from Amelia Lane Designs. They're my favorite retail shop! They have amazing fabrics, good prices, and really, really fast shipping! This one is called Harmony, and is a New Arrival at the moment. This is a DBP fabric, and so super soft! It's a good quality and easy to work with! I love it so much!

Free and Easy... Sewing the Agnes by Halla!

I love trying new things when it comes to sewing. I love learning new techniques, how to do things different ways, and figuring things out. For the most part, I also enjoy trying new-to-me pattern designers. This was my first ever pattern by Halla  - the AGNES . Yep, I downloaded it a long time ago when it released, but this was my first time ever making it! I downloaded it with intentions of trying it because it was so popular. It may have been popular because it's a FREE pattern (you can get the code to download it in the Halla Facebook Group ), or it may have been really popular because it's FREE and REALLY AWESOME. This blog tour gave me a chance to find out for myself! I participated in this blog tour put together by Kate of  Sewing from Scratch ... the idea is that we would all sew the same pattern, but make it our own. If we love it as is, we sew it as is. If we want a cute bow (Gwen😉), we add a cute bow, if we want to make all the adjustments to get our perfect ...

New Athletic Set - ALD fabrics

Every month, Amelia Lane Designs is featuring a new fabric of the month. The featured fabric type is discounted throughout the entire month! It's so nice if your favorite fabric type is featured or one that you've just been wanting to try.  This month, the featured fabric is Athletics! I LOVE the athletics from ALD! And, the best part is, every time I make something new from athletics, I get motivated to move and exercise!   **Disclosure: I have included affiliate links in this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I will receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** This Set:  For the top, I used a fabric called " Sportivo ." This is a nylon/ spandex blend. It can be used for athletic tops, sports bras, and even swimwear. I LOVE this fabric !  For this top, I used the Marin from Sew A Little Seam . This is a swim pattern. I planned to sew a crop top version with this for an exercise tank, but when I finished, I deci...
