The Pattern Emporium "Game On"

A couple of weeks ago, Kate posted a tester call for this top. This didn't even look like something I would normally wear, but for some reason, after thinking about it for a couple of minutes, I decided I wanted to try it!

I'm pretty sure that I've never in my life had an off-the-shoulder top. But sometimes, it can be good to try something new, right?

So... meet the "GAME ON TEE."

The "Game On Tee" is drafted for knit fabrics. It has two fits - the flared top, or semi fitted. There are a few length options. The flared option can be made hemmed or banded for a fun blousy look.

There are multiple sleeve lengths. And, after making the two different options, I can promise you that it took me longer to put the pattern together than it did to sew it! It is a super quick sew!

Why I've Never Owned an Off-The-Shoulder Top?

So I was talking to someone recently (I think Levi of all people). I had seen someone in an off-the-shoulder top, and I thought it was kind of cute, but I told him it seemed like it would be uncomfortable - like would you have to tug at the off the shoulder side all day? Or would it move and wiggle every time you moved your arm? I just felt so uncertain about it. And if I'm not sure about something, I don't want to waste time or money on it, you know?

But, Kate made this pattern look so cute, that I had to take a risk. I can honestly say that this is comfortable. Nothing moves, everything stays in place. I love it!

My Two Tops:

Don't you love it when you finish a project and you have a scrap big enough to make something else? I made BOTH of my tops from scraps! 😁

The first top I made during testing was the short sleeved flared version. It's already getting warm here, so the short sleeve was an obvious choice for me! 😉 I cut it on the tunic length line. It is a comfortable fit, and flares out at the waist and hips. This one was made from single brushed poly. I used it previously for a different Pattern Emporium test - the Going Places Dress. You can read about it here.

The second top I made was the fitted version. I LOVE the fitted version. It is my favorite of the two. I think I want a million of these. It was made from a double brushed poly fabric I used for a different dress recently.

Fabric

As I mentioned above I used a single brushed poly for the flared version and a double brushed poly for my second top. Both of these fabrics came from Amelia Lane Designs previously. I have had both of them for a while, and they're out of stock right now. However, they recently stocked some amazing SBP and DBP florals, and continue to stock a few new fabrics every month! It's my favorite source for getting the knit fabrics for my sews! Great prices, fabulous customer service, and speedy shipping. Check their site out here!

So... GRAB THE PATTERN NOW! Seriously... NOW, because Kate has decided to be SO GENEROUS. She's offering the pattern for FREE until  this Sunday night (Australian Time).  Not only did she offer this for free, but she has also discounted 20% ANY pattern you can pair this with or mash this with! So, you can get two patterns for a great bargain! Don't wait!!!

Free and Easy... Sewing the Agnes by Halla!

I love trying new things when it comes to sewing. I love learning new techniques, how to do things different ways, and figuring things out. For the most part, I also enjoy trying new-to-me pattern designers. This was my first ever pattern by Halla  - the AGNES . Yep, I downloaded it a long time ago when it released, but this was my first time ever making it! I downloaded it with intentions of trying it because it was so popular. It may have been popular because it's a FREE pattern (you can get the code to download it in the Halla Facebook Group ), or it may have been really popular because it's FREE and REALLY AWESOME. This blog tour gave me a chance to find out for myself! I participated in this blog tour put together by Kate of  Sewing from Scratch ... the idea is that we would all sew the same pattern, but make it our own. If we love it as is, we sew it as is. If we want a cute bow (Gwen😉), we add a cute bow, if we want to make all the adjustments to get our perfect ...

New Athletic Set - ALD fabrics

Every month, Amelia Lane Designs is featuring a new fabric of the month. The featured fabric type is discounted throughout the entire month! It's so nice if your favorite fabric type is featured or one that you've just been wanting to try.  This month, the featured fabric is Athletics! I LOVE the athletics from ALD! And, the best part is, every time I make something new from athletics, I get motivated to move and exercise!   **Disclosure: I have included affiliate links in this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I will receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** This Set:  For the top, I used a fabric called " Sportivo ." This is a nylon/ spandex blend. It can be used for athletic tops, sports bras, and even swimwear. I LOVE this fabric !  For this top, I used the Marin from Sew A Little Seam . This is a swim pattern. I planned to sew a crop top version with this for an exercise tank, but when I finished, I deci...
