Liverpool is one of my FAVORITE fabrics. It might be my favorite thing to sew, because it is SO easy to sew. I also love that it doesn't wrinkle. Like cram it in a suitcase, take it out, and it's ready to put on. And it's got a bit of structure, but also drapes so it's really pretty on. It's good for lots of things. Dresses, skirts, shorts.
When I saw that ALD was stocking some liverpool, I got excited. I love liverpool!
Unfortunately, this liverpool that I sewed up sold out like super fast. So, they don't have this print any longer, but they have some other really gorgeous ones! (Seriously... check out this one. I bought it for matching outfits for my sister and me).

Sewing My Liverpool:
I generally always sew dresses with liverpool. I really like dresses, and wear them most days. But, sometimes it's good to try something different, right?
I've had this pattern for shorts since it released (last winter maybe?) I bought it while it was on sale, planning to use it last summer for swim shorts for our beach trip. I did use it for swim shorts, and really enjoyed them, although I never took a picture of them.
But I kept planning to try regular everyday shorts, and I figured that now was the perfect opportunity.
This is the "SASHAY SHORTS" Pattern from Pattern Emporium. It comes in three widths (slim flare, medium flare, and full flare). There are also three lengths included. There are these longer shorts, shorter shorts, and swim shorts lengths.
For this fabric, I chose to sew the medium flare shorts. The medium flare, long shorts, in my size require just over a yard of fabric, according to the fabric chart in the pattern. I had one yard, and planned to just shorten the shorts a tad so that they would fit on 1 yard. I found, however, that if I made the waistband into two pieces with seams on the sides, rather than one piece with a back seam, that I could fit my shorts on 1 yard. I chose my size, according to the measurement chart, and I'm very happy with the fit.
These shorts go together very quickly. Sewing them probably took ten minutes; then I had to pen and hem which did take a bit longer. Since the shorts are so wide, the hem is a bit longer than regular shorts! But I bet I had the whole pair of shorts made and hemmed in under an hour!
What To Pair With Them?
Well... I had these super cute new shorts, and I needed something to pair with them. I wanted something to tuck into the shorts, so I got to looking, asking friends in the PE testing group, and working on a decision.
I ultimately decided to pair them with a solid blue Endless Summer Tee. This was my first time using this pattern, and I love it!
This tee is a very easy and quick sew. It has three options for the sleeves: tank top, flutter sleeves, or "cap" sleeves. I chose the cap sleeves. It is finished with a neckband and armbands. I was so low on time, that I didn't have a chance to hem my shirt before photos! But since I was tucking it in, I didn't worry with it! I'll get it hemmed soon, so that I can wear it with other things as well!
I love the fit of this tee. I would say it is semi fitted and looks great with these shorts!
The Liverpool:
If you're curious about liverpool, and would like to try it, or if you're like me and already know you love it, I'd definitely recommend checking out the Amelia Lane Designs site this weekend! All of the new liverpool fabrics will be on sale through Monday! Everything is so pretty! Even though this particular fabric is gone, I'm sure you can find something you like!

For this tee, I used DBP also available at Amelia Lane Designs. It's the solid light blue
