Scotty always makes me so happy - he's wearing his Laura-made clothes every chance he gets. And, he's always happy to receive another shirt (whatever I choose to make). Sometimes he picks fabric, and sometimes I get to surprise him. He's generally easy to please.
Sewing for him is SO fun because I know I'll get to see him wearing whatever I make again and again. It seriously makes my heart happy.

We have a few patterns that we've tried that we've liked a whole lot, and one that we've absolutely loved, and have used several times... that one was the 5 out of 4 Rocky Tee. I've shared about it before, but now that I've just made him his 6th or 7th Rocky, I decided that it was time to share about it again, and maybe show some of the fabulous long sleeved versions I've made him.

A Little About the Pattern:
This pattern is a men's pattern, but it fits him so well. The pattern starts at size XXS and goes all the way to size 5X. You get a great range of sizes. The pattern has the option of being made as a crew neck or a v-neck. You can make it sleeveless, short sleeve, or long sleeved. The sleeves are finished with a cuff or band. It is fairly-fitted. There is an optional pocket piece and an optional thumb-hole cuff.
Sewing For Scotty:
Back in the summer, when I made him his first Rocky Tee, we chose the size XXS chest blended with a XS waist, based on his measurements. After sewing that shirt, he asked to make the next one one size up for his comfort and preference. The second shirt was made a straight XS, and he loved the fit. So, I haven't remeasured him in a bit, but he is still happy with the fit for now. But he's a growing boy, and I'm sure we'll be sizing up for the next season!
Printed French Terry:
This is the first long sleeve shirt I made for him this year. I used this printed French Terry from Amelia Lane Designs. I believe it's sold out now, but it was a really nice fabric. It is so soft, was very easy to sew, and made a great Rocky Tee. He loves it so much.
I used a black ribbed fabric (cotton/ spandex blend) from Joann's for the neckband and cuffs.
Two-Tone Solid French Terry:
Apparently Scotty had been pointing out two-tone fabrics on clothes in stores to my sister for a bit. I didn't even realize he liked it until I received my order of this beautiful blue in the mail. I originally planned to make a gift for someone else when I ordered it... but the boys all LOVED it! They all wanted something made from it, so I used it for them instead. It also came from Amelia Lane Designs.
For the cuffs of this shirt, I used a cotton lycra from Purple Seamstress Fabrics.
The Newest Tee- Olive French Terry
I've never sewn so much French Terry before sewing for Scotty this year! 😉 He really likes the fabric! My sister and I were at Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago looking for denim. We did not find the denim that we were looking for, but we did see this. We knew that Scotty would love it because he's obsessed with his other two french terry shirts. She bought the fabric, and I sewed it up this week.
For the neckband and wrist cuffs, I used solid DBP from Amelia Lane Designs. It was a slightly darker color, but we thought it looked good. I was worried that the French Terry wouldn't have enough recovery for us to be happy with the fit long term.
So, there you have it, Scotty's Winter Versions of his Rocky Tees.
And while getting ready to write this, I started looking back at old pictures. It's kind of amazing to see how much he has grown and changed in the short 7 months since I made him his first Rocky!
