The Rocky Tee by 5 out of 4 Patterns

It feels so weird, but I've started using Men's Patterns for my nephew! 😏 How is he big enough?? Some companies include a size 2XS in their men's size chart, and he is actually fitting in that size pretty well now. So it just makes sense when getting a pattern, to get one that he's not going to grow out of!

So, when Amelia Lane Designs announced they were releasing this fabulous Striped Jersey, I immediately thought of him. I knew I had to make something for him with it. This came right after the release of the Rocky Tee by 5 out of 4 Patterns, and at the same time as a sitewide sale at 5 out of 4... so, it was meant to be. Right?

Check out that Stripe Matching 😍
So Let's Talk About the Pattern:

First... How about the amazing size range? 🎉If you wear a size 2XS (27-28" chest) to a 5XL (61-63" chest" this pattern is for you!! WHAT? This is an amazingly inclusive, wonderful tee shirt pattern!

The shirt has a slim fit, which I prefer to the boxier ones. I actually think my husband will like this one when I make him one! 😉

There are two neckline options - regular crew neck and a v-neck. The crew neck is high. The sleeves are finished with bands. You can make short or long sleeves. And the bottom is hemmed.

The pattern goes together easily, and is a super quick sew!

Scotty's Shirt

As I mentioned, I made this shirt using a jersey fabric from Amelia Lane Designs. This is a new release this weekend (and is currently on sale)! It has good horizontal stretch, but not much vertical stretch. I doubt that it has the needed recovery, since it is jersey, so I would recommend using something different for the bands. I used a cotton lycra I had in my stash!

His chest measures into the 2XS, however in the finished shirt, he likes the fit now, but there is not much growing room. So, next time I make this for him, I'll size him up to the XS so it'll fit longer.

He's happy with the fit, and loves wearing it!

Matching Cousins

I ordered two yards of this so I'd be sure to have enough for the shirt. I felt pretty confident I could get his shirt from 1 yard, unless the fabric shrunk in the wash. If it did shrink, I think it was minimal, so I had a lot left over. I decided to make my 4 year old a short set to match him! Daniel was a little sad that I didn't put a pirate ship on Scotty's shirt too. 🤷

Daniel is wearing Puperita patterns
- the Jelly Tee shirt (made from a lightweight cotton lycra from Wal-Mart) and the Seven Seas Shorts. This shorts pattern is actually drafted for wovens, but it has elastic in the waist, so I just made it with the jersey, and we like the fit! 😊

A Double Release from Pattern Emporium

I get so excited about new patterns. 😊 One of my favorite designers is releasing TWO new patterns together this month, and I'm thrilled to share about them! **Disclosure: I have included my affiliate links to the patterns used for this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I'll receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** The first new release- the BESTIES TEE This tee is so fun, with quite a few options! You can choose whether you like the flared tee or the banded tee. The flared tee features a slightly flared silhouette with three length options (cropped, regular, or long).  The banded option also has a slightly flared silhouette gathered into a waistband. It also has a couple of lengths - for the hemband to sit on the waist or the hips.  Both versions can be made with several necklines- three different rounded necklines, a v neckline, or a squared neckline. They both have several options for sleeve lengths or two choices for slee

Free and Easy... Sewing the Agnes by Halla!

I love trying new things when it comes to sewing. I love learning new techniques, how to do things different ways, and figuring things out. For the most part, I also enjoy trying new-to-me pattern designers. This was my first ever pattern by Halla  - the AGNES . Yep, I downloaded it a long time ago when it released, but this was my first time ever making it! I downloaded it with intentions of trying it because it was so popular. It may have been popular because it's a FREE pattern (you can get the code to download it in the Halla Facebook Group ), or it may have been really popular because it's FREE and REALLY AWESOME. This blog tour gave me a chance to find out for myself! I participated in this blog tour put together by Kate of  Sewing from Scratch ... the idea is that we would all sew the same pattern, but make it our own. If we love it as is, we sew it as is. If we want a cute bow (Gwen😉), we add a cute bow, if we want to make all the adjustments to get our perfect f

New Athletic Set - ALD fabrics

Every month, Amelia Lane Designs is featuring a new fabric of the month. The featured fabric type is discounted throughout the entire month! It's so nice if your favorite fabric type is featured or one that you've just been wanting to try.  This month, the featured fabric is Athletics! I LOVE the athletics from ALD! And, the best part is, every time I make something new from athletics, I get motivated to move and exercise!   **Disclosure: I have included affiliate links in this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I will receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** This Set:  For the top, I used a fabric called " Sportivo ." This is a nylon/ spandex blend. It can be used for athletic tops, sports bras, and even swimwear. I LOVE this fabric !  For this top, I used the Marin from Sew A Little Seam . This is a swim pattern. I planned to sew a crop top version with this for an exercise tank, but when I finished, I decided to
