Sew Yourself Some Love with Winter Wear Designs

Suzanne of Winter Wear Designs is hosting a blog tour this week - the "Sew Yourself Some Love" tour. All of the participants of the tour sewed something for themselves this week.  I decided to sew something for myself, and something for someone I love as well - my sister.  **Disclosure: I have included my affiliate link to the pattern I used for this post. Around the time I started sewing more for myself, I also started this blog. Shortly after starting my blog, I found myself fortunate enough to be added to Suzanne's blogging group, and I've really loved it!  For this blog tour, I wanted to make something I knew I was going to love. Y'all, I sew A LOT. But recently I've realized that I don't have THAT MANY knit t

The Annelaine Bubby and Bee

Back around Christmas, Matthew fell in love with Peppa Pig. Luke watched it sometimes too, but Matthew REALLY loved it. So, for one of his gifts, I made him a Peppa tee shirt. Luke was SO jealous. It was pretty cute, and he really wanted it. But then he didn't mention it again, so I thought he was over it. They now BOTH have Peppa "George and Dinosaur" shirts. Luke's is the Bubby and Bee hoodie **Disclosure: I have included my affiliate link to the pattern and fabric I used for this post. I asked, "Do you want a Paw Patrol shirt?" He said, "No I want a Peppa shirt with a hood." So I knew that I needed to Applique a Bubby and Bee shirt for Luke. Sewing Luke's Shir

Sewing with Pointelle

A little more than a year ago, one afternoon I drove my granddaddy somewhere. When I got him back home, he gave me twenty-five dollars and told me to buy some fabric to make my sister and me something. He told me that he'd like us to have something in lilac. So, of course, I went home, ordered some lilac DBP and ordered it. We both have tops. Recently, when Amelia Lane Designs got this lavender pointelle, I kind of fell in love with the color. When it arrived, I realized it was almost the exact same color as our lilac tops that we already have. But that's okay? You can't really have too much of a good thing, right? I knew from the second I saw the fabric what I was going to make with it. And, I knew I was going to make two - so my sister and me could match! **Disclosure: I have used my affiliate link for the pattern I used for this post. The Annelaine Nashville

Last year, I saw this fabric, and fell in love. I bought it and have had it folded on a shelf for close to a year.  Recently, when Amelia Lane Designs stocked this one, I got so excited because it was JUST like my beautiful hoarded gold/brown medallion fabric, but had more blue/grey tones. I loved it just as much. I made a dress from it. See that dress here. **Disclosure: I have included my affiliate link to the pattern I used for this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I'll receive a commission of the sale at no additional cost to you** Then, this week, when Annelaine announced that their Nashville Dress was discounted for the week, I decided to take the opportunity to sew one. I looked at my fabric stash and eventually chose to cut into this one. The Fabric: The fabric is a double brushed poly (DBP) fabric I got from Amelia Lane Designs . It is so soft, and perfect for making tops and dresses. This fabric is no longer available, but

New Tees for Scotty - The Wardrobe by Me Breton and Classic Tees

It's been a bit since I've pattern tested for Scotty. Leah bought some royal blue fabric several weeks ago for me to make a tee shirt for Scotty, so when I saw the pattern test by Wardrobe by Me, I decided that it was the perfect time to make him a couple of new shirts. Wardrobe by Me is releasing both the short sleeve "Classic Tee" and the long sleeve "Breton Tee." They are both classic designs, but have some differences setting them apart from one another. The Classic Tee : The Classic Tee is your regular short sleeve tee shirt design. It's designed for jersey fabric with or without stretch. The neckline should be made using a ribbed fabric (or something with good stretch and recovery). It is drafted in sizes 2XS-3XL (27.5" to 45" Chest). The height for the pattern is drafted based on size (and ranges from 5'4" for the smallest size to 6'2" for the largest size). The design is a "classic" fit - not

Ready for Valentine's Day!

I've had this fabric for a few weeks with plans of making some tee shirts for Valentine's Day... I knew what I wanted to make, but had not decided which pattern to use. As soon as I received the fabric, I prewashed everything. I prewashed the burgundy like seven or so times to make sure it didn't bleed on the white in future washes! But then I didn't sew it until this week! I spent too much time trying to decide which pattern to use to make these basic shirts. I knew I wanted to make a short sleeve shirt from the sharks layered over an attached long sleeve with a burgundy neckband. Simple. But I put it off because I wanted to make sure I used something with a slim enough long sleeve for the short sleeve to fit easily over, and I was trying to decide. Also, I kind of don't enjoy sewing sleeves in the round, and kind of don't do it unless it's necessary (with layered sleeves or woven fabrics). So I had been avoiding it. **Disclosure: I have include
