The Annelaine Bubby and Bee

Back around Christmas, Matthew fell in love with Peppa Pig. Luke watched it sometimes too, but Matthew REALLY loved it. So, for one of his gifts, I made him a Peppa tee shirt. Luke was SO jealous. It was pretty cute, and he really wanted it. But then he didn't mention it again, so I thought he was over it.
They now BOTH have Peppa "George and Dinosaur" shirts. Luke's is the Bubby and Bee hoodie

**Disclosure: I have included my affiliate link to the pattern and fabric I used for this post. If you choose to make a purchase from Annelaine Pattern or KnitFabric.com using my link, I'll receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you**

I was getting ready to make him the Annelaine Bubby and Bee hoodie, and was going through the fabric I had. I asked, "Do you want a Paw Patrol shirt?" He said, "No I want a Peppa shirt with a hood." So I knew that I needed to Applique a Bubby and Bee shirt for Luke.

Sewing Luke's Shirt:

I prefer doing applique before the shirt is constructed. So I cut the front out and appliqued it using my Brother PE770, and a design I bought from Etsy back in December for Matthew's shirt.

Based on Luke's size, I cut a size 2 with a size 3 length. It fits him perfectly.

The shirt went together VERY quickly! I was surprised by how quickly I had it made. He woke up the next morning and was so excited. He couldn't be talked into wearing anything else!

Daniel's Shirt:

Initially, I was not going to sew this pattern for Daniel. Daniel does not like hoodies. This was kind of a recent thing. They touch his neck more than regular shirts, and he has just decided that he doesn't really care for them, and doesn't want to wear them.

I was planning to make Daniel a regular tee shirt, because last week, when I went to Joann's to buy thread, Daniel saw this Doodles knit and fell in love with it. He LOVED the gold stars, and he needed it. I verified that he didn't want a hoodie. He said, "No just a regular shirt with long sleeves."

But then... when I was sewing Luke's, I noticed instructions to sew this pattern with a neckband instead of a hood. So, I had to try it.

I sewed Daniel a size 5 with a size 6 length. Another perfect fit. I'm kind of loving how the Annelaine Patterns fit my boys!

All the Info About the Pattern:

So this pattern has like a million options, and I've only shown you two. So I'll have to tell you about the rest until I have time to try them! 😉

The Pattern is drafted for children in the size 9 month size all the way up to a youth size 20!! This is the perfect hoodie/ sweatshirt pattern for all of your kiddos, up through your tweens-teens! 🙂

I borrowed the line drawings from this hoodie from the Annelaine website to show you how many different ways you can make it. I said a million options - maybe a few less than that, but WOW! So versatile!!

You will see multiple color blocking options (both horizontal color-blocking and vertical color blocking. There are options for a keyhole front with a button, a zipped up front, a placket front, and just a basic solid front (that I used). There are multiple pocket options - that cute heart shaped pocket, or a regular kangaroo pocket. You can finish the bodice and sleeves with either a hem or cuffs. There are fun stripe options for the sleeves as well. You can even sew this hoodie as a dress. Such a versatile pattern

Sometimes with patterns where there are too many options, I'll get overwhelmed trying to sort through the pattern pieces and tutorial. I've never felt this way with Annelaine Patterns. The tutorial feels very organized and simple to understand. I will for sure use this pattern in the future!

Fabric:

I try to keep a few solid colors on hand so I'm ready for coordinating, or just sewing whatever random thing my kids come up with! I like to buy my solid cotton lycra (and Custom Knits for my boys) from KnitFabric.com.

The fabric from Daniel's Shirt was a Doodle's Knit from Joann Fabrics. It was one of the newer ones with 3% spandex. I honestly didn't measure it post pre-wash to determine how much it shrunk. But I did pre-wash and dry it a few times, just to be safe, because interlock shrinks!!

Breaking Ground... FINALLY trying out Itch To Stitch

I've heard nothing but positive reviews on Itch To Stitch Patterns, and I've been meaning to try them out. In fact, I may own one or two, but have never sewed them. When I heard about this "Breaking Ground" Blog Tour, I knew it was the perfect time to try out one of these designers that I've been wanting to try, but apparently haven't had the motivation to sew. I had a scrap of this liverpool left over that I really love, so I had to find the perfect thing to make. I remembered seeing this cute petal pencil skirt on the Itch To Stitch site. It looked easy enough, and would be perfect for my fabric, so I thought, "Why not start with that?" **This post may contain my affiliate links. If you choose to make a purchase from my link, I will receive a small commision of the sale at no additional charge to you.** So here we are... the push I finally needed to spend a few minutes sewing (minutes is right... it's a fast sew). Look at my new skir...

Fun, Fast, and Free - Fresh Looks for Summer!

When I first saw the information about the "Boys in Summer" Blog Tour hosted by Made for Little Gents , I knew I wanted to participate! My boys are the reason I started sewing! I HAD to participate. But, what would I sew? I contemplated what I might make for a couple of weeks, and then it hit me... it would be super fun to highlight a couple of great freebies! EVERYONE loves free stuff. Free patterns are a great way to try a new designer out before making a purchase, they're perfect for adding some variety to your pattern stash without spending money, and they're just super fun... because more patterns = more stuff you get to make. 😁 So the freebies I'm going to talk to you about today are from Peek-a-boo Pattern Shop . I love Peek-a-boo patterns. I've made a few of them for my boys and have tested a few as well. I feel like the instructions are mostly geared towards beginners, so any skill level can be successful with her patterns. I've really en...

Getting Dressed for Halloween!

Honestly, Halloween was never my favorite holiday. It was just a day where some people dressed up. I don't particularly care for dressing up, so I haven't since I was a little girl. But... I have two sweet boys now. And one of them LOVES Halloween. So I'm participating in all the costume sewing, fun holiday-themed tee making, and Halloween-themed blog tours, and am actually really enjoying it! 😉 Today is my day to share on the DIY Halloween Costume Blog Tour hosted by Seams Sew Low . Okay... so I'm actually just sharing some Halloween-Themed tees, but they're so fun! I promise to show a picture of their costumes too! Daniel loves ghosts, pumpkins, costumes, candy, scary stuff, Halloween Decorations, everything Halloween related. I don't know where he gets it, but he loves the holiday. So, I have happily now made him 4 costumes in his life, and for the last two years, I've made him a couple of Halloween-themed shirts. So, for my day on the DIY Hal...
