Suzanne of Winter Wear Designs is hosting a blog tour this week - the "Sew Yourself Some Love" tour. All of the participants of the tour sewed something for themselves this week.
I decided to sew something for myself, and something for someone I love as well - my sister.
**Disclosure: I have included my affiliate link to the pattern I used for this post. If you choose to make a purchase using my link, I'll receive a small commission of the sale at no cost to you.**
Choosing A Pattern:
I've made A LOT of Winter Wear Designs patterns over the last couple of years. Around the time I started sewing more for myself, I also started this blog. Shortly after starting my blog, I found myself fortunate enough to be added to Suzanne's blogging group, and I've really loved it!
For this blog tour, I wanted to make something I knew I was going to love. Y'all, I sew A LOT. But recently I've realized that I don't have THAT MANY knit tops for cool weather. Like, I kind of just keep wearing the same shirts over and over again. I love my dresses, but they're just not as practical for everyday wear at this stage in my life. It seemed to make sense to make myself something new for the coolish weather we're having right now.
I remembered that I liked the fit of the banded tee I made before, so I decided to try it again, using different options.
Choosing Fabric:
I kind of got excited when I realized that I just so happened to sign up for a blog tour date that was on the SAME DATE that Amelia Lane Designs was stocking some new fabrics. And, I had this beautiful burgundy stripe fabric to share.
I had also been trying to decide for a couple of weeks what I was going to make with this beautiful fabric. I had considered just about every dress pattern I own (and ones I don't own). I thought about a loose fit top. Nothing seemed right.
Then when I realized that my blog date was the SAME date the fabric would stock, I got the idea to use this fabric for sewing this pattern, and I knew it would be amazing.
All About the Banded Tee:
This is a really awesome fitted tee pattern. It's made for cool weather. It has four neckline options (a cowl neck, a hood, a deep scoop neck, or a shallow scoop neck) and two sleeve options (a 3/4 length sleeve or a sleeve with a long cuff). The bottom is banded, as the name of the pattern suggests. 😉
It has enough options to keep you busy for a while, but not too many to be overwhelming. It fits really well too! I also love the price - you get all of these options for only $5 because it is one of the Winter Wear Designs Wardrobe Building patterns! 😃
Sewing the Tees:
This is my new top! I hemmed the sleeves rather than adding the cuffs.
If You Don't Have This Pattern... I'd definitely encourage you to check it out. I was happy to be reminded of how well it fits and how much I love it! I can see some more of these in my near future. I'm even thinking about hacking it, or using the free sleeve add on with it for some dressed up tees!
I really love the fit! 💓
This Fabric is on sale this week, along with the other new arrivals at Amelia Lane Designs! This month's stockings were all about non-florals! Their shop has a nice selection of non-floral prints, stripes, and solids to pick from right now! 🤩
ALD BINGO: If you've read any of my other recent posts, you've seen a little bit about BINGO. Amelia Lane Designs is playing a BINGO game in their Facebook Group. It is so fun! Each new make counts as another new entry. So this week, I'm counting this as my entry for "STRIPES." I don't know that I'll actually finish a BINGO, but I've had fun trying new things and trying to hit their BINGO categories with my sews!
