New Athletic Set - ALD fabrics

Every month, Amelia Lane Designs is featuring a new fabric of the month. The featured fabric type is discounted throughout the entire month! It's so nice if your favorite fabric type is featured or one that you've just been wanting to try.  This month, the featured fabric is Athletics! I LOVE the athletics from ALD! And, the best part is, every time I make something new from athletics, I get motivated to move and exercise!   **Disclosure: I have included affiliate links in this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I will receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** This Set:  For the top, I used a fabric called " Sportivo ." This is a nylon/ spandex blend. It can be used for athletic tops, sports bras, and even swimwear. I LOVE this fabric !  For this top, I used the Marin from Sew A Little Seam . This is a swim pattern. I planned to sew a crop top version with this for an exercise tank, but when I finished, I deci...

More Athletic-Wear... leggings and a tank

So for this set, I tried ANOTHER new to me pattern! More new athletic fabric from Amelia Lane Designs plus another awesome pattern = another great athletic set! So... let's talk about this one! 😉 **Disclosure: I have included my affiliate links to some of the patterns used in this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I'll receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** The Pattern : Have you ever been so intrigued by a pattern that you couldn't wait to try it? Then when you got ready to actually try it, it was different from everything you'd ever used, so you got a bit intimidated. And it took awhile for you to to find the courage? No? Well... that was totally me with this pattern . This pattern really was awesome, but wow, was it different from anything else! That can be a good thing, right? This pattern designer really thinks outside the box, so to speak, and came up with something really great, but really diff...

My New Athletic Set by Greenstyle

Every now and then, I try something new... like a new fabric or a new designer. Sometimes I try both at the same time, and end up with something I love - like this Athletic Set. This week, Amelia Lane Designs has stocked several new athletic fabrics. I'll be honest - life has been a little crazy the last several weeks, and I haven't found the time without the kids to make it to the gym... every now and again, we need a little motivation. So I thought a new athletic set might do it for me. And, yep, I love this set and kind of can't wait to wear these leggings to the gym! The Greenstyle Strides: I used the Strides from Greenstyle for my leggings. I'd seen this pattern shared around. It seems to be quite popular in the PDF athletic sewing world. I was intrigued by the side panel with a pocket. I've never had leggings with a pocket. So I liked that there would be somewhere to store my phone! But, every time I try a pants pattern, I get nervous. SO muc...

Tactel from Amelia Lane Designs

You may have seen that Amelia Lane Designs has stocked athletic fabrics a few times. Depending on the fabric type, fabrics are really wonderful for making leggings, exercise tops, sports bras, or even bathing suits. I had the opportunity to sew their supplex before here , but this was my first time making "active wear" with any of their fabrics! **Disclosure: I have included my affiliate links to the patterns I used in this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I'll receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you** I chose to make the 5 out of 4 Ninja Leggings , and the 5 out of 4 Resolution Tank !  The Leggings : This was my second pair of leggings to make ever. And it was my first time using this fabric type - this is TACTEL! The leggings pattern was awesome for a few reasons! I thought the fit was really good. I don't think this pattern has as much negative ease as my other leggings pattern, and I do like th...

The Sinclair Zoe

Back when Oxana decided to retire the Zoe, I didn't get it. I procrastinated, and thought, "Do I REALLY need ANOTHER dolman pattern?" And, I missed the retirement sale. And, it's true, I have many dolman patterns. I was counting them the other day... maybe my dolman pattern collection could rival my wrap dress pattern collection! 🤣 But I love them all, for different reasons. And, I'm just here trying to try all the patterns apparently, but it is really fun to try new and different things. So... when Oxana decided to revamp the Zoe, I immediately applied to test it. After all, clearly, I NEED another dolman pattern! 😜 I was immediately drawn to the dress version in the line drawing. However, that's not what I made. I fell in love with the top version after seeing one or two testers tops! And, y'all I love this top! **Disclosure: I have included my affiliate links to the patterns mentioned in this post. If you choose to purchase a Sinclair pattern us...

Feeling Inspired?

I sew so much that I very rarely find myself in a ladies' clothing store. I honestly get most of my inspiration from what I see other people make in Facebook Sewing Groups or I just see a fabric and get an idea myself.  This time though... I was using someone else's idea, and I love how it turned out!!  When Mya of Amelia Lane Designs posted that they were going to be making these " Inspiration Bundles ," I was immediately drawn to them! She had a picture similar to this one.    You can see the top for sale here:  https://www.amazon.com/Sheup-Casual-Sleeve-Stripe-T-Shirt/dp/B07CVLV9DG?th=1 Amelia Lane Designs is offering " Inspiration Bundles " so that you can make a shirt similar to this one in blush, blue, or mint. They are also including fabric for making leggings to pair with your new top! How cool is this? I have seen some people make tops very similar to this one (I did), and others used the three included fabrics and came up with the...
