The Ellie and Mac Paper Bag Waist Skirt

A couple of weeks ago, my 14 year old cousin was getting ready to start her ninth grade school year. She had a denim skirt that she really wanted to wear to school, and had me measure it to see if it met the "No more than 4" above the knee" requirement. Well it didn't. It looked completely appropriate to me, but just wasn't long enough. So you know, my seamstress brain got to working, and I got to thinking, "I could totally make her a new denim skirt." But a regular denim skirt has so many pieces, and is a bit of a commitment to make. I have a million things going on right now, so didn't have the time to commit to make one. ** Disclosure: I have included my affiliate links to the patterns used in this post. The Gloria Peplum by 5 out of 4 Patterns

So, my mama discovered ITY fabric this summer, and y'all, I think it might be her favorite thing ever. It's so breezy and cool to wear. I kind of love it too!  Back a couple of months ago, we bought two solids to make her something with. But I had a case of "Sewing Distraction" and never did. I mean, I've made her a couple of other things since we got the solids, but not the solid fabric. So, I recently pulled it out trying to decide what to make with it.  She has always been a little picky about what she wears, so I've been nervous to make her something - what if it doesn't fit the way she likes it? What if it's not her ? Well I'm happy to report that sewing something to your exact measurements is WAY  less stressful than going shopping in a department store. Sometimes our bodies require different sizes in different places. Sometimes we need to adjust for height. Sometimes we need other random adjustments to get our perfect fit. So, obviou

The Puperita Swank Tee and Bermuda Shorts/Pants

You may have noticed that I really LOVE Puperita Patterns. I sew them frequently for my boys. Their closet is FULL of Puperita! I love how they fit them, and the patterns are perfect for everyday wear. **Disclosure: This post contains an affiliate link to the fabric used for Daniel's shirt. If you choose to order fabric from Peek-a-boo using my link, I'll receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you** So... when the newest patterns were ready for testing, I excitedly applied. New Puperita Releases are all a surprise, so even for testers, you don't know exactly what you're testing. But, I am always excited to test or to be surprised with the new release!  So, this is the Puperita Swank Tee and Bermuda Shorts/ Pants patterns. The Tee : The tee is a knit raglan tee with a couple of options - you can make it with short or long sleeves. The tee can also be made with a crew neckline or as a mock turtleneck. I made Daniel two d

The Athina Kakou Lisa Dress

I kind of fell in love with the look of this pattern . It is really pretty and feminine. I love all of the details. The bust darts, the waist darts, the invisible zipper, the sash... I love the style. Athina Kakou decided to have a "Lisa and Kimberly Dress Month." So today is the day I'm sharing my Lisa dress.  Honestly, I did something rather silly - I didn't make a toile. I know. 🙈 I know better. I wish I had at least made a toile of the bodice first, because I'm pretty sure that with the fabric I chose, I could have sized down. My dress was a bit big. I ended up taking in my dress as much as I could without taking it apart. Do you ever reach that point in a project - the point where you're just ready to be finished with it. I was there. So my dress isn't perfect, and I have some ideas on what I want to do differently next time. But, it's still a pretty dress. Let's Talk about the Pattern :  As I mentioned, the pattern is full

Heading Back to School 2019

Daniel is going back to school in a little over a week. He's READY. I'm not sure that I am though! We've enjoyed the summer but I'm going to miss him! But going back to school called for getting a few new outfits... Daniel helped me with some online fabric shopping so that we could make him what he wanted for school to start! Participating in the Back to School Blog Tour hosted by Paisley Roots ! seemed like the perfect reason to go ahead and get his new outfits made! So I'm sharing two new tee shirts with you today. I actually made him 4 new tee shirts in a week, but two are still in testing, so I don't get to share those just yet! 😉 ** Disclosure: I have included my affiliate links to the patterns and fabric used, when applicable. The Wardrobe by Me Amelia Bomber

I made a jacket, y'all! I think this might be the most complex pattern I've made before. I've really been pushing myself lately to stretch my skill set... and doing that has required that I sew woven fabrics a bit more. You know, I love knits because they're quick and easy to sew. Wovens require me to go more slowly, pin more, be more precise, and sometimes use closures (buttons, zippers, etc). **Disclosure: I have included my affiliate link to the patterns mentioned in this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I'll receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you** So... my newest woven make is the Wardrobe by Me Amelia Bomber . I really love it! Information About the Pattern : The pattern has recently been updated to include sizes 0-24. It has a sporty look, but with the right combination of fabrics, it is also a very classic design. The jacket has a facing and a lining. The jacket is made for woven fabrics, alth

The Peek-a-Boo Darcy Romper

Y'all, I love rompers. I have hardly made any recently though. Luke has been working on potty training, and they seem less convenient for that. Some of them take longer to sew than a pair of shorts. And sometimes, Luke doesn't want to wear them (I have no idea why). Those reasons paired with the fact that he has hand-me-down rompers from Daniel have deterred me from making him many. But... when I saw the Peek-a-Boo Darcy, I absolutely COULD NOT pass it up! It's ADORABLE, and has plenty of options to make it a super useful pattern! ** Disclosure: I have included my affiliate link to the pattern I used in this post.
