So, my mama discovered ITY fabric this summer, and y'all, I think it might be her favorite thing ever. It's so breezy and cool to wear. I kind of love it too!

Back a couple of months ago, we bought two solids to make her something with. But I had a case of "Sewing Distraction" and never did. I mean, I've made her a couple of other things since we got the solids, but not the solid fabric. So, I recently pulled it out trying to decide what to make with it.
She has always been a little picky about what she wears, so I've been nervous to make her something - what if it doesn't fit the way she likes it? What if it's not her? Well I'm happy to report that sewing something to your exact measurements is WAY less stressful than going shopping in a department store. Sometimes our bodies require different sizes in different places. Sometimes we need to adjust for height. Sometimes we need other random adjustments to get our perfect fit. So, obviously, we can make these changes when we're sewing. So handmade things are naturally going to fit better.

She wore basic solid tees for the longest, but this summer, we've introduced some prints, some different fabric types, and some new, fun patterns. So, I pulled her out of her comfort zone once again, and made her a PEPLUM! I think it's the first peplum she's ever owned. Not only did I put her in a new type of top, but I also made her model it for me! 😉 But isn't it pretty on her? I think it looks amazing on her! 💗
The pattern I used has quite a few different options. You can make several different versions of this, depending on what you like. Don't you love when a pattern has multiple options?
You can make it as a peplum top or a dress (short or long skater skirt included). The dress or peplum top can be made all one length or high-low. Another new thing - I made hers high-low! There are also different sleeve options - you can make it with regular sleeves (in different lengths) or with a split sleeve. You also could make it sleeveless. There are two neckline options - a high neckline or a lower scoop neck. Also, the pattern includes a regular bodice piece and a piece that includes a full bust adjustment. The skirt could also be made without the bodice as just a stand alone skirt.
This pattern is worth having for all of the options you have! You can use it to make quite a few different garments... no one will know it's a repeat pattern! 😉
Don't believe me? Have a look at all of the testers in their versions on the website! Quite a few of them look very different from one another!
My Mama's Top:
As I mentioned, I made her top using a solid ITY fabric from Amelia Lane Designs. I chose to make it with the high neckband. We made the high-low option. This is also a new look for her, but I thought she would like it because she likes hemlines that curve in the back for better coverage. She is wearing hers with some skinny-legged capri pants we bought from Sam's Club back in the spring. They have a legging-like waistband and are fitted through the hips and thighs. I think they look great with this top and some of her other longer tops!
The Fabric:
As I mentioned, this is ITY fabric from Amelia Lane Designs. It's really nice quality. It's thinner than the printed ITY we have, but I don't think it's see-through at all. It is not too slippery to sew either.
You can get this exact fabric here. Isn't it nice and summery?
I think the top is beautiful on her! I'm kind of wanting to try the pattern out for myself next! Maybe I'll make a dress version!
