New Athletic Set - ALD fabrics

Every month, Amelia Lane Designs is featuring a new fabric of the month. The featured fabric type is discounted throughout the entire month! It's so nice if your favorite fabric type is featured or one that you've just been wanting to try.

This month, the featured fabric is Athletics! I LOVE the athletics from ALD! And, the best part is, every time I make something new from athletics, I get motivated to move and exercise!

This Set:

For the top, I used a fabric called "Sportivo." This is a nylon/ spandex blend. It can be used for athletic tops, sports bras, and even swimwear. I LOVE this fabric

For this top, I used the Marin from Sew A Little Seam. This is a swim pattern. I planned to sew a crop top version with this for an exercise tank, but when I finished, I decided to add a peplum... because I think it's fun! I did decide to add a few inches to the length of the peplum. I really like to feel covered (especially for swimwear).

I made this pattern as swim wear a couple of times over the summer, so I already knew I love the pattern. I blogged on these sets here.

For this top, I used the ALD cups, swim lining, power mesh, and elastic in the built in bra. It is actually very supportive. I can definitely use it comfortably for exercise.

I love this top because I can use it for exercise right now, and this summer, I can wear it to the beach or pool!

For the bottoms, I used a fabric called "Tactel." The color is "Purple Cactus Flower." It is so bright and pretty. I just LOVE this fabric so much! It is 245gsm making it the perfect weight for bottoms, leggings, and sports bras. This is also a nylon/ spandex blend, but is not swim friendly.

I used the Sinclair Penny Leggings Pattern. I love Sinclair Patterns. Every one of them fits me so well that I need minimal adjustments. These are a very easy, quick sew. I have several pairs of Penny's and they are definitely always favorites. A really nice feature of this pattern (and all other Sinclair Patterns) is that each pattern is drafted three times for different heights. You can choose whether you need the petite size, regular size, or tall size. You get all of these options in EVERY pattern you buy, making it a super value! You won't have to spend your time adjusting your length - you'll be ready to just start sewing!

Now For the Silliness 🤣

When my sister took these pictures for me, after we were about finished, I started showing out a little... mainly for her benefit. Then she said, "Do that again!" And some of these things happened. 😲

A Jump!

So obviously the athleticwear holds up to doing... whatever that was 😜

But it is also the greatest for being comfy at home too!

So... Don't forget about the Athletic Sale! It is on through the END of January (2021). It's a great time to stock up for your future athletic sews!

Breaking Ground... FINALLY trying out Itch To Stitch

I've heard nothing but positive reviews on Itch To Stitch Patterns, and I've been meaning to try them out. In fact, I may own one or two, but have never sewed them. When I heard about this "Breaking Ground" Blog Tour, I knew it was the perfect time to try out one of these designers that I've been wanting to try, but apparently haven't had the motivation to sew. I had a scrap of this liverpool left over that I really love, so I had to find the perfect thing to make. I remembered seeing this cute petal pencil skirt on the Itch To Stitch site. It looked easy enough, and would be perfect for my fabric, so I thought, "Why not start with that?" **This post may contain my affiliate links. If you choose to make a purchase from my link, I will receive a small commision of the sale at no additional charge to you.** So here we are... the push I finally needed to spend a few minutes sewing (minutes is right... it's a fast sew). Look at my new skir...

Fun, Fast, and Free - Fresh Looks for Summer!

When I first saw the information about the "Boys in Summer" Blog Tour hosted by Made for Little Gents , I knew I wanted to participate! My boys are the reason I started sewing! I HAD to participate. But, what would I sew? I contemplated what I might make for a couple of weeks, and then it hit me... it would be super fun to highlight a couple of great freebies! EVERYONE loves free stuff. Free patterns are a great way to try a new designer out before making a purchase, they're perfect for adding some variety to your pattern stash without spending money, and they're just super fun... because more patterns = more stuff you get to make. 😁 So the freebies I'm going to talk to you about today are from Peek-a-boo Pattern Shop . I love Peek-a-boo patterns. I've made a few of them for my boys and have tested a few as well. I feel like the instructions are mostly geared towards beginners, so any skill level can be successful with her patterns. I've really en...

Getting Dressed for Halloween!

Honestly, Halloween was never my favorite holiday. It was just a day where some people dressed up. I don't particularly care for dressing up, so I haven't since I was a little girl. But... I have two sweet boys now. And one of them LOVES Halloween. So I'm participating in all the costume sewing, fun holiday-themed tee making, and Halloween-themed blog tours, and am actually really enjoying it! 😉 Today is my day to share on the DIY Halloween Costume Blog Tour hosted by Seams Sew Low . Okay... so I'm actually just sharing some Halloween-Themed tees, but they're so fun! I promise to show a picture of their costumes too! Daniel loves ghosts, pumpkins, costumes, candy, scary stuff, Halloween Decorations, everything Halloween related. I don't know where he gets it, but he loves the holiday. So, I have happily now made him 4 costumes in his life, and for the last two years, I've made him a couple of Halloween-themed shirts. So, for my day on the DIY Hal...
