A little more than a year ago, one afternoon I drove my granddaddy somewhere. When I got him back home, he gave me twenty-five dollars and told me to buy some fabric to make my sister and me something. He told me that he'd like us to have something in lilac. So, of course, I went home, ordered some lilac DBP and ordered it. We both have tops. Recently, when Amelia Lane Designs got this lavender pointelle, I kind of fell in love with the color. When it arrived, I realized it was almost the exact same color as our lilac tops that we already have. But that's okay? You can't really have too much of a good thing, right? Last year, I saw this fabric, and fell in love. I bought it and have had it folded on a shelf for close to a year.  Recently, when Amelia Lane Designs stocked this one, I got so excited because it was JUST like my beautiful hoarded gold/brown medallion fabric, but had more blue/grey tones. I've sewed a few Athina Kakou Patterns , and I'm really loving them. I think Athina's sense of style must be at least somewhat similar to mine, because I LOVE pretty much every pattern she has designed. They are really pretty to me! 💓 So when she asked if I would test the Meg Dress & Top I didn't even hesitate. I really love it! I sew knits a LOT. I love just serging everything together. It's faster, and I've gotten pretty good with knits. However, occasionally, I choose a woven item to push myself. It forces me to take my time, to try new things, and to work with a different fabric type. There is always something to learn. I like sewing dolman style tops. They're fast, easy to put together, no inset sleeves to worry with. I have a secret though... I've never worn one with long sleeves. I have only used the "short sleeve" that is part of the main bodice pattern. So, I wasn't sure if I would like the "sleeves." Well, I saw the Pickle Toes Xanadu Dolman and all the options that it came with, and I was in love with the pattern. 😍 I had to have one! And since we are headed into fall, I knew that either 3/4 or long sleeves would be my friend. It was inevitable... I had to try it, and hopefully I would like it.
