A little more than a year ago, one afternoon I drove my granddaddy somewhere. When I got him back home, he gave me twenty-five dollars and told me to buy some fabric to make my sister and me something. He told me that he'd like us to have something in lilac. So, of course, I went home, ordered some lilac DBP and ordered it. We both have tops.

Recently, when Amelia Lane Designs got this lavender pointelle, I kind of fell in love with the color. When it arrived, I realized it was almost the exact same color as our lilac tops that we already have. But that's okay? You can't really have too much of a good thing, right?
I knew from the second I saw the fabric what I was going to make with it. And, I knew I was going to make two - so my sister and me could match!

This is the Pattern Emporium Like a Boss Batwing Top!
I kind of love dolmans, but I've never made one with such a dramatic batwing before. But it's really comfortable!
This pattern is drafted for knit fabrics. It includes options of short sleeve, long sleeve, a couple of different hem lengths, a few different neckline options, and your choice of cutting the back on the fold or as two separate pieces sewn together.
The top is made to be very loose through the arms, bust, and waist, but a bit more fitted through the hips.
Our Tops:
So I made two tops - for myself and my sister. Previously, our measurements were the exact same, but she has lost an inch everywhere pretty much, so I probably should have sized down one for her, but she's happy with the fit. In fact, she's asked me to make another one!
My top fits more like it's designed to, where hers is a bit looser in the hips.
As I mentioned, this is pointelle fabric from Amelia Lane Designs. I would say that this fabric is similar to a waffle fabric, but maybe a bit more lightweight. It also has a tad less stretch than waffle I've used in the past. It is very easy to sew, and very light and drapey. It's a comfortable fabric, and the weight of it will make a perfect transition top for moving into spring. You're not going to burn up in this on afternoons that warm up a bit.
I love this top!
