Off to School... Handmade Style!

Daniel is starting pre-school for the FIRST TIME this school year! This means it's the first time he needs a new "back to school" outfit! Well he actually needed two because he has orientation one day and then he has the first day. 😉 But I'm going to show you and tell you about one, really because his little brother and little cousin got a matching outfit! They're not going to school, but Daniel will go with everyone matching and looking stylish!

This post is part of the "Back to School" blog tour hosted by Made for Little Gents!  Go check out Sunni's page if you never have!

Puperita Style!

I love Puperita Patterns! I haven't found one yet that I didn't like. They're all amazing, pretty easy to follow, and have excellent instructions. The pattern pieces are perfect, and you have wonderful support from a very committed designer. Annalisa takes her patterns very seriously and always listens to her customers and testers, so I always feel confident that I'm getting a great pattern from her!

So...  I made their new little outfits using three of my favorite Puperita Patterns!

The Seven Seas Shorts

So I think this is my FAVORITE shorts pattern for Daniel. He had like 6 or 7 pairs last year. And this year, he still wears some of the old ones, and he has like 4-5 or so new ones. See, I love the pattern. 💗 So when I decide he needs new shorts, I immediately think of these! I would say this is my go-to shorts pattern.

It has a casing at the waist with elastic. The hem of the shorts is finished with a cute little cuff. They're an easy sew and pretty quick to make! I love the fit too!

You can make it all the way up to size 6. If you need size 2 or smaller, they have room to accommodate diapers (I have even used them with cloth diapers). Starting at size 3, they are sized for children who do not wear diapers.

I just love them! I love using a coordinating solid for the cuff. Aren't they adorable?

Daniel's Shirt

Okay, I must admit that I have been busy. And in effort to save time, I did not make his tee shirt. He is wearing a store bought white tee shirt and I used my embroidery machine to add an applique. I think it turned out super cute! Daniel and I looked at approximately 1 million applique designs. We settled on this one and one for his other outfit. This one came from Applique Market. The link to this design is https://appliquemarket.com/product/abc-wagon/ if you are interested.

The Little Guys

I love little diaper sets on little boys. 😍 So, I used two of my favorite Puperita Patterns to make them both a new diaper set. They both are wearing the Puperita Deer Kimono Top and the Puperita Diaper Cover.

What is so special about these patterns? They are both fully lined and can be reversible!

I chose to line theirs in solid white (so they're not reversible), but I don't have to worry about any fun print showing through on the light colored gingham side. I love them! They look so cute on these sweeties!! 💗 These are both relatively quick sews, and since they're fully lined, there is no need to finish seams. This is a great pattern for you if you don't have a serger (no one will ever know)!

And So He's Off!

He's off to preschool in mama-made style!

I love all three of these guys! <3 They're such sweet babies and love playing together so much!

  1. These are all so cute! I love making matching outfits so much. 🙂 There’s no pressure to make ALL their clothes - I have a pile of plain tees I bought for my son that are waiting to have HTV added to them to personalize them just a bit. I’m happy to not sew everything! Haha

    1. It's too easy to buy the basic, plain colored tees! I find them at Walmart or Hobby Lobby for just a couple of dollars, and that's the way to go! I love putting applique on with my embroidery machine! One day I'll want to be able to do vinyl when he's too old for embroidery lol What kind of machine do you have?

The Tank Dress 3-ways by Pattern Emporium

It's been a while since I posted. I've been sewing, helping my kindergartener with virtual school, and living, which just hasn't left me with a lot of time for blogging! Life happens!  But... I've kind of missed writing, and I decided that now was the perfect time to make a new post. I had the opportunity to sew a pattern I really liked, and I got excited enough to find the motivation to write about it! 😉 **Disclosure: I have included my affiliate link to the pattern used in this post. If you choose to purchase a Pattern from Pattern Emporium using my link, I will receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** The pattern I tested is from Pattern Emporium. I love their patterns for a few reasons. I've posted before that I have kind of broad shoulders and on with some designers I have to adjust patterns to fit them. There are a couple of designers that seem to fit me well with no adjustments to the pattern pieces and this is one of them. I

A Double Release from Pattern Emporium

I get so excited about new patterns. 😊 One of my favorite designers is releasing TWO new patterns together this month, and I'm thrilled to share about them! **Disclosure: I have included my affiliate links to the patterns used for this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I'll receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** The first new release- the BESTIES TEE This tee is so fun, with quite a few options! You can choose whether you like the flared tee or the banded tee. The flared tee features a slightly flared silhouette with three length options (cropped, regular, or long).  The banded option also has a slightly flared silhouette gathered into a waistband. It also has a couple of lengths - for the hemband to sit on the waist or the hips.  Both versions can be made with several necklines- three different rounded necklines, a v neckline, or a squared neckline. They both have several options for sleeve lengths or two choices for slee

New Athletic Set - ALD fabrics

Every month, Amelia Lane Designs is featuring a new fabric of the month. The featured fabric type is discounted throughout the entire month! It's so nice if your favorite fabric type is featured or one that you've just been wanting to try.  This month, the featured fabric is Athletics! I LOVE the athletics from ALD! And, the best part is, every time I make something new from athletics, I get motivated to move and exercise!   **Disclosure: I have included affiliate links in this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I will receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** This Set:  For the top, I used a fabric called " Sportivo ." This is a nylon/ spandex blend. It can be used for athletic tops, sports bras, and even swimwear. I LOVE this fabric !  For this top, I used the Marin from Sew A Little Seam . This is a swim pattern. I planned to sew a crop top version with this for an exercise tank, but when I finished, I decided to
