The Annelaine Patterns All Seasons Dolman

Have you ever made a dolman top? If you're new to sewing apparel, I'd recommend starting with a dolman style top... they're easy to put together and fast to sew. There are no set-in sleeves, which makes them an easy, quick project.

I have been eyeing the Annelaine All Seasons Dolman for a WHILE... like since it released I think. I love the look of it, and really kind of wanted to try it. Primarily, I LOVE the front tie. It's really cute, and appears to be a pretty popular look right now.
Well... when Amelia Lane Designs (your next favorite fabric shop) and Annelaine Patterns decided to team up for Valentine's Day, I knew it was destiny. I HAD to make the All Seasons with some oh-so-gorgeous Amelia Lane Designs DBP.
Let me tell you about the fabric!

This is some super soft two-tone double brushed poly fabric. This is the two-tone red fabric, and it really is so beautiful! I LOVE the color of it and how it feels. It is made with 96% polyester and 4% lycra. It has very good horizontal stretch and not much vertical stretch. They are carrying this two-tone brushed poly fabric in several colors right now, but you can check out the red here.

I mentioned before that Amelia Lane Designs might be your next favorite fabric shop, and I feel like I should explain why. 😉 I'll admit... I like a lot of fabric shops (fabric is my weakness). And so many of these small companies have wonderful customer service and quick turn around, but I honestly don't think I've ever had my fabric this fast. Like a couple of weeks ago, I ordered on Friday afternoon, and a package showed up on Monday! WHOA! I would say their shipping time rivals Amazon Prime (maybe even quicker)!

Now... About the Pattern

This is a quick dolman style pattern with a few different variations. You may choose a top length or a cropped length. There is a slim or a relaxed fit cut line. You can make it with a regular hemline or with the cute tie front. If you choose the regular hemline, you'll hem it just like usual, but with the tie front, there is a facing. The neckline on this pattern is not finished with binding or a band, but drafted in a way where it will lay nicely if you turn it under and hem it. You can hem the dolman sleeves for short sleeves, or add the pieces for long 3/4 or long sleeves. It is a really nice, and unique pattern! The pattern is drafted for knit fabrics, and a fairly easy sew.

As I mentioned, I made my top using DBP. I chose to use the slim fit cutline, and made the top length with a tie front. I chose to make mine with the 3/4 length sleeves. I LOVE the fit of this top!

I made my sister one too! Maybe at some point we can wear them on the same day when we have someone else to take a picture! 😊

So... Go Try Something NEW!

  1. Love your top, suits you really well. I am not sure about the sizing of Annelaine patterns. As my sizing is similar to your sizing, I wonder what size you took for this pattern (I want to make the hoodie/sweatshirt pattern)?

Free and Easy... Sewing the Agnes by Halla!

I love trying new things when it comes to sewing. I love learning new techniques, how to do things different ways, and figuring things out. For the most part, I also enjoy trying new-to-me pattern designers. This was my first ever pattern by Halla  - the AGNES . Yep, I downloaded it a long time ago when it released, but this was my first time ever making it! I downloaded it with intentions of trying it because it was so popular. It may have been popular because it's a FREE pattern (you can get the code to download it in the Halla Facebook Group ), or it may have been really popular because it's FREE and REALLY AWESOME. This blog tour gave me a chance to find out for myself! I participated in this blog tour put together by Kate of  Sewing from Scratch ... the idea is that we would all sew the same pattern, but make it our own. If we love it as is, we sew it as is. If we want a cute bow (Gwen😉), we add a cute bow, if we want to make all the adjustments to get our perfect f

New Athletic Set - ALD fabrics

Every month, Amelia Lane Designs is featuring a new fabric of the month. The featured fabric type is discounted throughout the entire month! It's so nice if your favorite fabric type is featured or one that you've just been wanting to try.  This month, the featured fabric is Athletics! I LOVE the athletics from ALD! And, the best part is, every time I make something new from athletics, I get motivated to move and exercise!   **Disclosure: I have included affiliate links in this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I will receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** This Set:  For the top, I used a fabric called " Sportivo ." This is a nylon/ spandex blend. It can be used for athletic tops, sports bras, and even swimwear. I LOVE this fabric !  For this top, I used the Marin from Sew A Little Seam . This is a swim pattern. I planned to sew a crop top version with this for an exercise tank, but when I finished, I decided to
