The Wardrobe by My Wardrobe Builder Tee

I may have an excessive number of basic tee patterns. For some reason, I guess I just can't help myself ... I want to try them all.

But without trying one, I may miss out on something really awesome. So there's a really good reason to try all the patterns, right?

Let me introduce you to the Wardrobe Builder Tee by Wardrobe by Me Patterns.

Have you ever had one of those patterns that had lots of options... you were SO excited to buy or test it because of all the variations. But then when you opened the file, it was really difficult to sort through. It was hard to figure out which pages to print, and the instructions were a bit overwhelming.  Let me start with telling you, This is NOT that pattern!

Easy To Print and Put Together:

This pattern has a print guide making it very simple to figure out which pages you need to print. You can print only the options you want to sew. But if I were you, I'd go ahead and print them all, because after you make one, I promise you're going to want the others!

The way this pattern goes together is very unique (and I really love it). You'll print the exact same piece for the front and back bodice BOTTOM for every option. It saves paper and ink! YES!

Then you'll print the front AND back bodice pieces that you want to use. These front and back TOP bodice pieces simply attach to the top of the bottom piece. You can switch them off as you wish. I actually have them all taped to the bottom bodice piece, and I fold down the top bodice layers that I don't need!

The Pattern and Options Included:

The pattern is drafted for using knit fabrics. You'll want something with good stretch, and something with recovery for the neckline. Nice drapier knits are recommended, such as modal, polyester, rayon, etc.  The pattern is now available in sizes 0-24.

You may have caught on now that there is more than one way to sew this pattern. I love all the options. For what you're getting, you can't beat the price!

You have different length options and different neckline options. For the neckline, you can sew a boatneck, an "o-neck," a scoop neck, a low scoop neck, or a v-neck! It can be made top length, tunic length, or with a curved hemline. Also, there are SIX sleeve length options - sleeveless, cap sleeves, short sleeve, elbow length, 3/4 length, and long sleeves.

You've got a lot of options packed into this little pattern, but it is super easy to understand, and it fits so well! It's definitely going to be a favorite pattern for me!

Adjustments:

The only adjustment I made to the pattern was a broad shoulder adjustment. This is a very common adjustment for me to get a good and comfortable fit. After adjusting the shoulders, I love the fit. However, looking at the photos, I'm thinking I might have benefitted from a sway-back adjustment as well. But it honestly doesn't bother me the way ill-fitting shoulders do!

I also did blend sizes, according to the measurement so that the pattern would fit as intended.

My Tops:

For both of my tops, I used sweater knits, although both sweater knits were very different. I don't know the fabric content of either, as they were from scrap boxes I purchased, I believe. The blue is a little coarser and stiffer. It has more structure. It definitely has polyester in it, as it pilled a bit just from the prewash. But I like the look! For this pattern, I used the low scoop neck. I love that it's a classic scoop neck without being too low or gapping! For this top, I used the 3/4 length sleeves.

The white stripe is one that I've had FOREVER. I loved this fabric from the first time I saw it, and planned immediately to make it into a boatneck. But I loved the fabric so much that I wanted to wait until I found the perfect boatneck pattern - this was it! It is a super lightweight, drapey, slinky sweater knit fabric, and was a bit more difficult to work with. But it's SO soft and I absolutely love the finished sweater! For this top, I used the long sleeves.

Will I Sew It Again?

After adjusting the shoulders, I love the fit of this pattern. I think it'll make an excellent piece for layering or wearing alone with jeans. I love boatneck tops, but have honestly not found another boatneck that fit so well. I know, for sure, I'll be using it again!
