I have been curious about this pattern for a bit. You know... I already have like 5 kids raglan patterns, but I just WANTED to know about THIS one. You know... I feel like I need to try all the patterns. After I tried and loved the first 5 out of 4 Pattern, it is only logical that I try the rest, right?

So... here is the Rocket Raglan.
So finally, I got ready to sew this one. I originally thought I might sew it for one of my boys, but my sister is my photographer, and with this social distancing thing, I thought it might be easier to get photos of my nephew. So I decided to get him a shirt ready for them to pick up!
Choosing the Fabrics:
This time, since I was making the shirt for Matthew, I decided to let Matthew pick the fabric. I took pictures of several options I have at home. Some I purchased recently and some I purchased a long time ago, but still had left over.
My sister showed him the pictures, and he said he wanted the TURTLE fabric. One of the fabrics I sent had sea animals, including turtles, but that's not what he wanted. He wanted ALL THE TURTLES. He pointed at the picture and showed her the mama turtle, the daddy turtle, and the baby turtles.
In laughter, my sister called me and told me which one to sew. I bet you were thinking these were leaves printed on this fabric... but nope... these are all the TURTLES!
So, we chose this fabric. This is an interlock that I got from a garage sale years ago! It was originally from Joann's fabrics.
For the sleeves and neckband, we paired a solid brown cotton lycra with it.
Sewing the Pattern:
As with most 5 out of 4 patterns, this one has quite a few options to choose from. It starts at baby sizes and goes all the way through big kid sizes, making the pattern a great value! You can sew it from the time your kiddo is born all the way until they're ready for a grown up pattern!
The pattern has shirt, tunic, and dress length options. There are crew neckband and v-neckband options. Or, you could choose a hood (starting at 2T). Your shirt or tunic can be banded or hemmed. The sleeves can be banded or hemmed.
I sewed a size 2T for Matthew based on his measurements. I used the short sleeve option, hemmed shirt, and crew neckline.
The pattern includes a 3/8" seam allowance. It went together perfectly, and fits him so nicely!

He loves his turtle shirt, y'all! Doesn't he look cute in it?
I'm kind of excited to try it out for my boys now! Maybe I'll do some for matching cousin pictures once social distancing is over! 💗
