My New Outfit!

I tested a pair of joggers a while ago for a different company... I struggled to get a good fit during the test, and I know pants can be hard to fit. So, although I have been intrigued by some different patterns since then, I haven't tried making other joggers for myself.

Well, I've been eying this pattern for quite a while because it looked so good. I also have always gotten a good fit using Sinclair patterns, but had not tried any of their pants until now. I kind of expected them to be good though, because everything by Sinclair is!

So here are my JJ Joggers.

About the Pattern:

This is an easy jogger pattern. There are two length options - Long and below the knee length. They have a waistband with cased elastic and a drawstring, and pockets.

They can be made using knit fabrics with 30-50% stretch. The waistband and leg cuffs should be made using a fabric with great recovery though.

For my pants, I chose to use a thick 2" elastic I had on hand rather than the 3/8" elastic that the pattern called for.

The Fabric I Used:

I used a new French Terry solid available now at Amelia Lane Designs. It is so soft and perfect for these joggers!

This a polyester cotton blend.

It is a new arrival this weekend, and is on sale through Monday!

For the waistband, pocket bands, and the cuffs, I used some coordinating cotton lycra I had on band. The french terry was perfect for the joggers, but you need something with more recovery for the bands!

Now... a top!

I finished the joggers, and had a bit of leftover fabric. I was trying to decide what to do with it, and who to use it for. I eventually decided to make a whole outfit for myself, and to make a top with the leftover fabric.

Which top though?? Ultimately I decided to sew the Seamwork Astoria. It has been a bit since I've made this pattern, and I've been wanting to try it again. It was the perfect time!

The Astoria is a cropped sweater pattern. It has two options - long sleeves and 3/4 length sleeves. The last Astoria I made was pretty short -  I had a high waisted skirt I wore with it, but it was the only thing I could wear with it, so for this one, I decided to add a few inches. I added four inchest to the pattern (which was probably REALLY good since this fabric doesn't really have vertical stretch).

 I love it!  😁

Don't Forget - Check out the NEW ARRIVALS at Amelia Lane Designs this weekend! Several french terry fabrics and a couple of new athletics are available!  Discounted through Monday (09-29-2020)

I get so excited about new patterns. 😊 One of my favorite designers is releasing TWO new patterns together this month, and I'm thrilled to share about them! **Disclosure: I have included my affiliate links to the patterns used for this post. It also has a couple of lengths - for the hemband to sit on the waist or the hips.  Both versions can be made with several necklines- three different rounded necklines, a v neckline, or a squared neckline. They both have several options for sleeve lengths or two choices for slee

Free and Easy... Sewing the Agnes by Halla!

I love trying new things when it comes to sewing. I love learning new techniques, how to do things different ways, and figuring things out. For the most part, I also enjoy trying new-to-me pattern designers. This was my first ever pattern by Halla  - the AGNES . Yep, I downloaded it a long time ago when it released, but this was my first time ever making it! I downloaded it with intentions of trying it because it was so popular. It may have been popular because it's a FREE pattern (you can get the code to download it in the Halla Facebook Group ), or it may have been really popular because it's FREE and REALLY AWESOME. This blog tour gave me a chance to find out for myself! I participated in this blog tour put together by Kate of  Sewing from Scratch ... the idea is that we would all sew the same pattern, but make it our own. If we love it as is, we sew it as is. If we want a cute bow (Gwen😉), we add a cute bow, if we want to make all the adjustments to get our perfect f

New Athletic Set - ALD fabrics

Every month, Amelia Lane Designs is featuring a new fabric of the month. The featured fabric type is discounted throughout the entire month! It's so nice if your favorite fabric type is featured or one that you've just been wanting to try.  This month, the featured fabric is Athletics! I LOVE the athletics from ALD! And, the best part is, every time I make something new from athletics, I get motivated to move and exercise!   **Disclosure: I have included affiliate links in this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I will receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** This Set:  For the top, I used a fabric called " Sportivo ." This is a nylon/ spandex blend. It can be used for athletic tops, sports bras, and even swimwear. I LOVE this fabric !  For this top, I used the Marin from Sew A Little Seam . This is a swim pattern. I planned to sew a crop top version with this for an exercise tank, but when I finished, I decided to
