The Jessica by Sinclair Patterns

Sinclair has been another of my favorite designers since I tried my first one! I've loved the fit, how easily they go together, the fact that the pattern pieces are perfectly marked, and that the instructions are really phenomenal. They have all gone together easily, and become staples in my wardrobe.

I've had the Jessica pattern for a while, and have been intending to try it for months, but have been putting it off for no real reason at all. I just never made time to sew it. And I don't know why, because all I needed was about an hour or two. 🤷
When I got this Liverpool fabric from Amelia Lane Designs, I knew it needed to be something beautiful! I played around with different ideas, and actually printed a different pattern first, but then remembered this one. I'm super glad I did, because I think this was the perfect pattern for this beautiful fabric!

Let's Talk about the Pattern:

The pattern is called the Jessica Bodycon Dress. It's a fitted dress, with negative ease everywhere. It hugs the curves and its really flattering. It has a cap sleeve option, or regular sleeves (that can be cut to different lengths). It can be finished with a straight hem or a flounce (and there are two options for the flounce).

It is a perfect pattern to use with stable knits, like liverpool or ponte, but you can always use something more lightweight as well.

I chose to use the straight hem. I blended sizes according to the measurement chart, and I really do like the fit. I also used the cap sleeve piece for my dress.

As I mentioned, the fabric I used is liverpool. Liverpool is one of my favorite fabrics to sew and o wear! It is easy to sew, and doesn't wrinkle! So, I don't have to iron it before wearing. 😉

Go Check out the Fabric Here! It's a NEW ARRIVAL at Amelia Lane Designs.

Breaking Ground... FINALLY trying out Itch To Stitch

I've heard nothing but positive reviews on Itch To Stitch Patterns, and I've been meaning to try them out. In fact, I may own one or two, but have never sewed them. When I heard about this "Breaking Ground" Blog Tour, I knew it was the perfect time to try out one of these designers that I've been wanting to try, but apparently haven't had the motivation to sew. I had a scrap of this liverpool left over that I really love, so I had to find the perfect thing to make. I remembered seeing this cute petal pencil skirt on the Itch To Stitch site. It looked easy enough, and would be perfect for my fabric, so I thought, "Why not start with that?" **This post may contain my affiliate links. If you choose to make a purchase from my link, I will receive a small commision of the sale at no additional charge to you.** So here we are... the push I finally needed to spend a few minutes sewing (minutes is right... it's a fast sew). Look at my new skir...

Fun, Fast, and Free - Fresh Looks for Summer!

When I first saw the information about the "Boys in Summer" Blog Tour hosted by Made for Little Gents , I knew I wanted to participate! My boys are the reason I started sewing! I HAD to participate. But, what would I sew? I contemplated what I might make for a couple of weeks, and then it hit me... it would be super fun to highlight a couple of great freebies! EVERYONE loves free stuff. Free patterns are a great way to try a new designer out before making a purchase, they're perfect for adding some variety to your pattern stash without spending money, and they're just super fun... because more patterns = more stuff you get to make. 😁 So the freebies I'm going to talk to you about today are from Peek-a-boo Pattern Shop . I love Peek-a-boo patterns. I've made a few of them for my boys and have tested a few as well. I feel like the instructions are mostly geared towards beginners, so any skill level can be successful with her patterns. I've really en...

Getting Dressed for Halloween!

Honestly, Halloween was never my favorite holiday. It was just a day where some people dressed up. I don't particularly care for dressing up, so I haven't since I was a little girl. But... I have two sweet boys now. And one of them LOVES Halloween. So I'm participating in all the costume sewing, fun holiday-themed tee making, and Halloween-themed blog tours, and am actually really enjoying it! 😉 Today is my day to share on the DIY Halloween Costume Blog Tour hosted by Seams Sew Low . Okay... so I'm actually just sharing some Halloween-Themed tees, but they're so fun! I promise to show a picture of their costumes too! Daniel loves ghosts, pumpkins, costumes, candy, scary stuff, Halloween Decorations, everything Halloween related. I don't know where he gets it, but he loves the holiday. So, I have happily now made him 4 costumes in his life, and for the last two years, I've made him a couple of Halloween-themed shirts. So, for my day on the DIY Hal...
