CKC Lillith's Bishop Sleeve Top

I've had two two-yard cuts of solid olive sitting on a shelf for months, just waiting to be made into something. But apparently at some point, I cut a little piece from both of them for different projects... so now I had two slightly-smaller-than-two yard cuts sitting there waiting...

I had kind of forgotten about them until my husband got his Christmas present from his mom... an olive polo. When he opened it, I said, "I have fabric that color! I'm going to make me a matching dress!"

So, when Shannon announced that she needed a few more pictures of Lillith sewn up, I jumped in, thinking I'd make my olive dress, forgetting that I had cut into my olive fabric. 🤣 Unfortunately they were slightly different color olives (they came from different places), so I couldn't just use some of both to make the dress work.

So... I didn't make my matching olive dress, I made me a matching olive blouse, and I kind of LOVE IT! 😍

Let's Talk About the Pattern:

This is a super cute top and dress pattern available in both ladies' and girls' sizes. It is drafted for knit fabrics. Most knit fabric types will work.

It is a basic tee/ a-line dress with a cute waist tie, and beautiful bishop sleeves.

The sleeves can be cut at either long sleeve length or half sleeve. Both options are pulled in at the hem with elastic.

You have three length choices for the waist tie (a short knot, a long knot, or a bow). The short knot is not recommended for thick or heavy fabrics, and the bow requires interfacing to hold its shape well.

And y'all... this pattern is just really cute.

My Top

Yeah, this is my top that I wanted to be a dress. But honestly, I needed a few more tops I could wear with jeans, so this one will get plenty of use! 😊

My top is made from Double Brushed Poly Fabric. I cut out the long knot option. I honestly probably could have cut my dress out if I had chosen the shorter sleeve option, but I thought I'd probably enjoy the long sleeves for cooler days. The sleeves take up quite a bit of fabric being as wide as they are, but it's so worth it! They're amazing! 😍

Fabric:

My fabric is a solid olive available at Amelia Lane Designs. It's my favorite place to shop for myself. I love all the options they carry. Their prices are great, and they are constantly stocking new things!

Breaking Ground... FINALLY trying out Itch To Stitch

I've heard nothing but positive reviews on Itch To Stitch Patterns, and I've been meaning to try them out. In fact, I may own one or two, but have never sewed them. When I heard about this "Breaking Ground" Blog Tour, I knew it was the perfect time to try out one of these designers that I've been wanting to try, but apparently haven't had the motivation to sew. I had a scrap of this liverpool left over that I really love, so I had to find the perfect thing to make. I remembered seeing this cute petal pencil skirt on the Itch To Stitch site. It looked easy enough, and would be perfect for my fabric, so I thought, "Why not start with that?" **This post may contain my affiliate links. If you choose to make a purchase from my link, I will receive a small commision of the sale at no additional charge to you.** So here we are... the push I finally needed to spend a few minutes sewing (minutes is right... it's a fast sew). Look at my new skir...

It also has a couple of lengths - for the hemband to sit on the waist or the hips.  Both versions can be made with several necklines- three different rounded necklines, a v neckline, or a squared neckline. They both have several options for sleeve lengths or two choices for sle...

January Releases from Amelia Lane Designs

I always get so excited about new fabric releases from Amelia Lane Designs. Frequently, they give me the opportunity to sew something I might not otherwise and try something new. I have learned a lot sewing for them, like how to sew swim and athletic wear. But I've also learned that I actually LIKE wearing fun prints and designs that I haven't always worn.  ** Disclosure: I have included affiliate links to patterns used in this post. If you choose to purchase a pattern using my link, I will receive a small commission of the sale at no additional cost to you.** For this release, I tried something that is really not me - this fun animal print! There have been a few releases recently with fun animal-print fabrics, and I have not sewn any of them, because I thought I wouldn't like wearing them. But after seeing some of the other sewists in the ALD Facebook Group sharing their makes, I knew I HAD to try it! I am really glad I did. This dress makes me so happy! This fabric is a d...
